Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir,

I am writing this letter to give my feedback about the series of free concerts that has been organised by your organisation in the park on 25th October at 4 pm.

Although, there are many concerts happened, I participated in music concert. It was hosted by famous musicin Ilayaraja and his crew members. It was a 3 hour concert from 6 pm to 9 pm along with some introductory speech. In addition to this, there is no age restrictions and the entry fee is absolutely free.

Basicslly, I am a huge fan of Ilayaraja sir voice and his music so I really enjoyed the conecrt very well. Moreover, he sung most popular melody song which gave me a sense of satisfaction and mental relaxation. After attending the concert, I felt very relaxed and delighted.

I would like to make a suggestions regarding improvement in next concert. First thing is the chairs are not organised second thing is the refreshment provided during concert is expired. I hope next time when you organise the concert try to make this arrangemnet in a proper way.

Thnaking you

Sujan,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three requested points: you identify the music concert featuring Ilayaraja, explain that you enjoyed his singing and the relaxing effect of the music, and suggest improvements to seating and refreshments. These are relevant details, and the positive and negative feedback is clear. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you say the chairs were “not organised” and the refreshments were “expired,” but do not explain what specifically went wrong or how the council could address each issue. The concert date and time are also confusing because you first give 4 pm, then describe a concert from 6 pm to 9 pm. Clarifying these details and developing the suggestions would make the feedback more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph describing the concert, a paragraph explaining your enjoyment, and a final paragraph with suggestions. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “After attending the concert” to connect ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or the punctuation makes them unclear. For instance, “First thing is the chairs are not organised second thing is…” runs two suggestions together, while “Although, there are many concerts happened” does not clearly introduce the concert you attended. Use separate sentences or a clear list for the suggestions, and make each paragraph’s opening link naturally to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the concert experience and your feedback, including “mental relaxation,” “delighted,” and “introductory speech.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “age restrictions” and “refreshment.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the letter less polished: “musicin,” “Basicslly,” “conecrt,” and “arrangemnet” are misspelled, while “he sung” and “enjoyed the concert very well” are not natural choices. Some phrases, such as “your organisation” and “famous musicin,” could be more precise. Proofread spelling and learn common collocations for describing performances and event arrangements to improve accuracy and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. For example, you explain the effect of the music with “which gave me a sense of satisfaction and mental relaxation.” Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, sentence construction, and punctuation. “Although, there are many concerts happened” combines structures incorrectly; “he sung” should use the appropriate past form, and “I would like to make a suggestions” has an article-and-plural mismatch. The opening also shifts between “has been organised” and a past event without a clear reason. Practise forming accurate past-tense sentences and checking articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries; these changes would make your varied structures more controlled.
