Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing a letter to express my feedback about the concert. Recently, near by my local park local council has arranged a series of free concerts. Actually, If I could have more time, I would had attended all the concerts. So that, I attended only one concert that is live music.
In addition, I am a big fan of Mrs.Sunita. She is a queen of melodies, her voice has mellifulous. She started her music with Durga Devi chanting. That is my all time favorite music. Furthermore, I really appreciate some specific team also, reception staff, and food committie members.I thoroughly enjoyed the entire concert with delicious food.
I would like to give some suggestions for improving next summer's concerts, firstly, some technical issue was disturbed the event. Secondly, start time was delayed because of this issue many people went back their homes. Apart from these issues, everything is good. I really appreciate it.
If you could address minor improvements, it would be grateful for next concerts.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Manasa Chindam

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the event as a live-music concert, explain your enjoyment through your admiration for Mrs Sunita and the food, and suggest improvements to technical problems and delayed starting times. These details make the response relevant and show a clear purpose. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others: the concert is not identified more specifically, and the suggestions do not explain what the council could do to prevent technical problems or delays. The praise for the staff and food is also brief. To strengthen the letter, add a little detail about the performance and make each recommendation practical, such as testing equipment beforehand and publishing a revised schedule.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement, moving from the reason for writing to the concert experience, then suggestions and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these purposes, and signposts such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “Secondly” make the sequence easy to follow. At times, however, linking feels mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For example, “So that” does not connect the preceding sentences naturally, while “Apart from these issues, everything is good” shifts abruptly from specific problems to a broad evaluation. Some references, such as “this issue,” could be more precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each suggestion directly to its effect on attendees.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “series of free concerts,” “technical issue,” “delayed,” and “thoroughly enjoyed.” Attempts at more expressive language, such as “queen of melodies,” show willingness to use less common vocabulary, though some choices and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural: “mellifulous,” “food committie,” and “near by” weaken precision. Phrases such as “my feedback about the concert” and “some specific team” are also not the most natural choices in this context. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but more accurate collocations would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal. Check spelling and choose straightforward, precise wording where unsure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional and clauses explaining causes. However, control is uneven, and several errors affect clarity. For example, “If I could have more time, I would had attended” has an incorrect conditional verb form; “She is a queen of melodies, her voice has…” joins two independent clauses incorrectly; and “many people went back their homes” is missing a necessary preposition. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, as in “I am a big fan of Mrs.Sunita.” Practise accurate conditional patterns, clause joining, and prepositions, then proofread for complete sentences. More reliable control of these structures would make your ideas easier to read.
