Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dea Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to give you a feedback about the concert which I have attended last week.

I was able to attend the concert of famous musician called "Ed Sheeren". It was held on last weekend in a local park which is near to my house and that is the main reason why I attended that concert because venues for the other concerts are far from where I live.

I really enjoyed a lot in that concert becasue I am the person who admires his work a lot. I am also trying to be a musician like him and he is the person who inspries me. Other than that, it was not overcrowded because in the area where live most people like to prefer to stay at home.

My overall experience was good but there is one suggestion I would like to make for next summer's concerts is to held the concert in auditorium instead of a local park, becuase this time the local park did not have any fans on the wall. Therefore, people were not able to breath easily because of humidity.

Thank you for your time and understanding to review my feedback.

Kind regards,

Abhi Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify the Ed Sheeran concert, explain that you admire his work and find him inspiring, and offer a suggestion for next summer. The reasons for enjoying the event are relevant, and the letter’s purpose is clear. However, some points are less fully developed: the suggestion to use an auditorium is based mainly on the lack of fans and the humidity, without explaining how the council might preserve the park-concert atmosphere or address comfort in other ways. The comment that the event was not overcrowded is also brief. To strengthen the response, add a little more detail about what worked well and make the improvement suggestion more specific and practical.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, an explanation of your enjoyment, and a closing suggestion and sign-off. This makes the main message easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “because,” “Other than that,” and “Therefore” to show relationships between ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “Other than that” introduces the point about crowd size, but its relationship to your admiration of the musician is not precise. The final paragraph combines your overall assessment, suggestion, and explanation in a long sentence. Use clearer transitions and separate the suggestion from its supporting reason to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “admires his work,” “overcrowded,” and “humidity” help explain your experience. You also attempt some topic-specific language, including “venues” and “auditorium.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “becasue,” “inspries,” and “breath” where “breathe” is needed. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “give you a feedback,” “enjoyed a lot in that concert,” and “fans on the wall.” These choices may make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Focus on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose precise terms such as “fans” or “ventilation” for cooling equipment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because” and a relative clause in “the park which is near to my house.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, articles, and verb forms. For example, “which I have attended last week” combines a present perfect form with a finished past-time expression; “I was able to attend” is more suitable. In “the main reason why I attended that concert because…,” the sentence structure is incomplete or duplicated, and “is to held” should use an infinitive form such as “is to hold.” There are also missing articles or prepositions in phrases such as “in the area where live.” Review tense consistency and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
