Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir ,

This is Vishwa Vyas , a resident of Barrie locality. I recently attended various concerts arranged at city park , downtown location. I got chance to be park of Whitebay concert by European band. I felt glad to be part of it.

Its exclusive music and band performers made us enjoy this concert with touch of international music which was quite impressive. What I felt attractive was performances from local residents were also been entertained at stage and everybody including children enjoyed at lot.

Arrangements were made at its best according to place however there were few major things which caught my attention which included more people actually attended event than expected and didnot get proper seating arrangements. Park felt quite small for such concerts so if you can arrange these events on big theatre of city which can accomodate more number of attendees would be more appropriate.

I hope we would be getting more of such events at our Barrie. As a resident we would be happy to help council in making arrangements going further. Excited for upcoming concerts.

Yours faithfully,

Vishwa

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify the Whitebay concert, explain that its international music and local performers made it enjoyable, and suggest a larger venue because the park lacked seating for the unexpectedly large audience. These details make the letter relevant and give the council a clear basis for action. The enjoyment is explained more fully than the improvement suggestions, however: moving to a larger theatre is specific, but you could also suggest practical changes such as adding temporary seating or improving crowd management. The closing offer to help is positive, though it does not add much detail about how the concerts could be improved. More development of these suggestions would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening identifies your attendance, the next paragraph describes what you enjoyed, and a later paragraph presents a problem and a proposed solution. The final paragraph closes politely and maintains an appropriate letter format. This progression is easy to follow, although some links between ideas are awkward or unclear. For example, “What I felt attractive was performances from local residents were also been entertained at stage” makes the relationship between the local performers and the audience difficult to understand. The long sentence beginning “Arrangements were made at its best” also combines several points without clear separation. Use clearer transitions and divide complex ideas into shorter sentences to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “international music,” “performers,” “seating arrangements,” and “attendees,” and the reader can generally understand your feedback. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “according to place” and “making arrangements,” but several choices are unnatural or imprecise. Phrases such as “got chance to be park of” and “enjoyed at lot” make the message less fluent, while “exclusive music” does not clearly convey what was distinctive about the concert. Spelling and word-form errors, including “didnot” and “accomodate,” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling; precise wording will help your ideas sound more confident and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence explaining the reason for the venue suggestion and a relative clause in “which can accomodate more number of attendees.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include missing or incorrect articles in “got chance” and “at stage,” the verb construction “were also been entertained,” and the tense and agreement in “What I felt attractive was performances.” Punctuation and spacing around commas are also inconsistent, and the long sentence about the arrangements would benefit from being split. Practise accurate article use, verb forms, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts to connect ideas in longer structures.
