Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir,

I am writing to express my views towards one of the concerts that I have recently been a part of it in a park this summer.

To commence with, I attended a concert of well-known singer named as Arijit Singh because I am quite fond of listening to music and singing.

There are several reasons why I attended this concert such as he is my favourite singer so I would never miss a chance to see him performing live in front of me. Secondly, it gave me an immense pleasure to see different musicians playing various instruments in background.

I would love to suggest something for next summer's concerts such as folk dance concert would also be added, some art forms such as painting exhibition and numerous activities could be included for audience too.

I hope you would like my suggestions. I am looking forward to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Chintan Nayak

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three requested points: you identify the concert as one by Arijit Singh, explain that he is your favourite singer and that you enjoyed seeing the musicians, and offer ideas for next summer. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. However, the enjoyment is explained only briefly, and the suggestions—folk dance, an art exhibition and audience activities—are listed without explaining how they would improve the events. The opening also says you were “a part of” a concert, which does not clearly establish that you attended as an audience member. Develop one or two reasons and suggestions with specific details, such as improved seating or activities for families.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall sequence: purpose, concert attended, reasons for enjoying it, suggestions, and a closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking phrases such as “Secondly” and “I hope” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some control of organisation. To make the flow more natural and flexible, avoid formulaic transitions such as “To commence with” and connect related ideas more smoothly. The sentence beginning “I would love to suggest” contains several suggestions in one run-on sequence, so separating them or grouping them by type would make the relationship between ideas clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the letter and attempt some less common expressions, including “immense pleasure,” “various instruments,” and “numerous activities.” The meaning is generally clear, and the reader can understand your feedback. However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “views towards” is not the usual collocation here, “a concert of well-known singer” is awkward, and “art forms such as painting exhibition” does not express the intended idea precisely. “Concert” is also repeated without much variation. Choose natural phrases for giving feedback and describe the event or proposed activities more precisely; this will make your vocabulary more accurate while retaining your ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the reason clause “because I am quite fond of listening to music” and the sentence with “so” explaining why you attended. The message remains understandable despite some grammatical errors. For example, “I have recently been a part of it” has an unnecessary pronoun after “a part of,” and “a concert of well-known singer” needs an article before “well-known singer.” In “I am looking forward to hear,” the verb pattern should be “looking forward to hearing.” Review articles and verb patterns, and check that each sentence has a clear, complete structure. More accurate control of these forms would strengthen the letter.
