Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to give you my feedback on the concert which is held in local park.

I would like to share my opinion on the recent free concert. I recently attended a music concert with my whole family. We really enjoyed the concert and had a great fun with people of our society. Specially, the quality of sound system was really enjoyful and relaxing.

There is one thing that I would like you to improve in next concert. Actually, seating area was little congested so I felt little disappointed during the event. It would be more suitable if you could arrange more chairs and tables for attenders.

Thank you so much for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Lovepreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover the main purpose of the letter, explain that you attended a free music concert with your family, and give a reason for enjoying it: the sound system and the social atmosphere. You also make a relevant suggestion about providing more seating. However, the task asks which concert you attended, and “a music concert” does not identify its type or performers. Your reasons for enjoying it and your proposed improvement are also only briefly explained, so the response addresses the task partially rather than developing each point. The response is 26 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain your feedback. Add specific details about the concert and explain how the seating affected your experience and how extra seating would help next summer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph suggesting an improvement, and a polite closing. This makes the main points easy to locate. The sequence is generally logical, and phrases such as “I would like to share my opinion” and “There is one thing” help signal the shift between ideas. To make the progression more developed, connect the enjoyment and improvement points more explicitly and avoid repeating the general introduction to your feedback in the first two paragraphs. For example, move directly from the opening to the concert details, then use a clear transition to explain the seating issue and its effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the basic feedback, including “congested,” “disappointed,” and “consideration.” However, the range is limited and some choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “had a great fun,” “people of our society,” and “enjoyful.” “Attenders” is also not the natural term for people at a concert; “attendees” or “concertgoers” would be more suitable. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for common, accurate collocations, such as “had great fun,” “members of our community,” and “the sound system was clear and relaxing.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple sentences and some more developed structures, including “It would be more suitable if you could arrange more chairs and tables.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the letter format is controlled. Some grammatical errors are present, however. In “the concert which is held in local park,” the tense does not fit a concert you already attended, and the article is missing before “local park.” In “seating area was little congested,” articles are needed before “seating area” and “little.” Also, “had a great fun” has an unnecessary article. Review articles and tense consistency, and practise extending sentences to explain the reasons behind your feedback.
