Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to share my feedback about concert whch I attended recently in our local park.

I attended a concert on sunday night which was the last concert of this music festival. I was out of town, so I was not able to atend the first two concerts but my friends attended those events and they really enjoyed.

I really loved the folk music concert because this was performed by my favorite singer Jammy Chan. I have attented all of her concerts so far and everytime she gives her best performance. Moreover, the the lighting and sound system enhanced the beauty of this event.

Although, this was a perfect event but I felt sitting arrnagement was not manged properly. I would like to suugest if sitting plan could be improved and keep back rows on some hight so they can also see the stage without any obstacles.

Thank you for giving me chance to provide feedback and I hope you will consider my suggestion.

Yours Faithfully,

Jas Aulakh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify the Sunday-night folk concert, explain that you enjoyed Jammy Chan’s performance and the lighting and sound, and suggest raising the back rows so people can see the stage. Your purpose and overall positive view are clear throughout, and the suggestion is relevant and practical. The explanation of enjoyment is supported with personal detail, such as having attended the singer’s concerts before. To make the response more fully developed, explain more specifically what made this performance memorable, and add another practical improvement—for example, clearer seating signs or better crowd management. This would extend the feedback rather than relying mainly on general praise and one suggestion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible sequence: it introduces the purpose, identifies the concert, gives reasons for enjoying it, and then offers a suggestion. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Although” show an attempt to connect ideas. The progression is generally clear, but some connections feel mechanical or are not quite suited to the meaning; for instance, “Although, this was a perfect event but” combines two contrasting structures. The opening paragraph also moves quickly from your attendance to your friends’ experience, which is less central to the feedback. For stronger cohesion, keep each paragraph focused on one function and use simpler, more natural transitions between points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “folk music,” “lighting,” “sound system,” and “stage,” and the reader can understand your main points. However, the range is limited, with repeated general words such as “concert,” “event,” and “enjoyed,” while several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “whch,” “attented,” “arrnagement,” and “manged.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “enhanced the beauty of this event” and “gives her best performance.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose more precise collocations. For example, you could describe the sound system as “clear” or “well-balanced,” and say the singer “delivered an outstanding performance.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “a concert … which was the last concert” and a conditional suggestion about improving the seating. The overall meaning remains understandable, but errors occur in sentence construction and grammatical forms. For example, “Although, this was a perfect event but” incorrectly combines “although” and “but”; “I would like to suggest if sitting plan could be improved” needs a clearer clause structure and an article before “sitting plan.” There are also issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as the comma after “Although.” Practise building accurate conditional suggestions—for instance, “I would suggest improving the seating plan so that people in the back rows can see the stage.”
