Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to my local council to send feedback to them. They organised a number of concert like importance of native languange, drugs, culture, save environment and so on. The great news was free of cost and welcomed to everyone.
I attended native language concert which was held on July 23rd in peter john park near to my house. I enjoyed there alot because they introuced other language too and explained how important our native languange. One of speaker, discussed about other languages are like English and French. He said, we should learn about basic words of both.
I want to give suggestions for upcoming concert which will help next year in summers. Firstly, we should arrange better siting options like in this year we had less chair. Second, we should encourage younsters through social media. Lastly, arrange the meetings before the concerts.
I hope my feedback give you better arrangements for next year.
Your faithfully,
Harman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify the native-language concert and give its date and venue, explain that you enjoyed learning about other languages, and offer suggestions about seating, social media and pre-concert meetings. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. However, the reasons for enjoying the event are only briefly explained: for example, you mention the speaker’s discussion of English and French but do not say what made this especially engaging or useful to you. The improvement ideas also need more explanation, such as how additional chairs or social-media promotion would improve the experience. Developing these points more fully would make the feedback more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the concert, a paragraph of suggestions and a closing. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Second” and “Lastly” help readers follow the recommendations, and the progression from experience to suggestions is logical. This is a solid organisational foundation. Some connections are less smooth, however: the opening lists several unrelated concert themes before moving to the event you attended, and “I enjoyed there” does not clearly link the enjoyment to the reasons that follow. The final sentence also repeats the idea of next year’s arrangements without summarising the suggestions. Use clearer links between each idea and make references more precise to strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the task, including “feedback,” “native language,” “suggestions” and “arrange,” so the main message is understandable. There are also attempts to express specific ideas, such as “sitting options” and encouraging young people through social media. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling or collocation errors are noticeable, including “concert like importance,” “free of cost,” “alot,” “introuced” and “less chair.” These can make parts of the letter awkward or less clear. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the event as a concert “about the importance of native languages” and say that there were “too few chairs.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the main points using a mixture of short statements and longer sentences, and the letter includes some attempts to connect clauses, such as “I enjoyed there alot because…” and “which will help next year in summers.” The overall meaning can generally be followed. However, sentence structures and grammatical control are uneven. Examples include “One of speaker, discussed about other languages are like English and French,” where the subject and clause structure are unclear, and “I hope my feedback give you,” which has a subject–verb agreement error. Articles, plurals and prepositions also need attention, as in “less chair” and “near to my house.” Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, then check agreement and article use.
