Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to give you feedback regarding concert that was attended by me last year.
It was jazz music concert in the month of june at city park. I enjoyed a lot not only it was my first lived concert but also I listened songs from my favorite singer Ray Charles. Along with my friends, we dance as well. Moreover, I ate different sort of italian food as well as enjoy the nature too.
My overall experience was good, however, I faced some kind of difficulties during the parking as the parking slot was too short and majority of individuals parked their cars on road due to this it was hard for other commuters for driving and this matter need strict action for the upcoming events.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the concert as a jazz performance at City Park in June and explain several reasons you enjoyed it, including hearing Ray Charles, dancing with friends, and eating Italian food. You also give a relevant suggestion by describing the parking problem and calling for action at future events. However, the improvement is not framed as a specific, practical proposal, and the enjoyment points are listed rather than developed. The letter is also 8 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to explain your ideas fully. Add a clear recommendation, such as providing more parking or arranging shuttle transport, and expand on how it would help attendees.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce your purpose, describe the concert, explain a difficulty, and close politely. Paragraphing helps separate the experience from the parking concern, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “however” show the relationship between ideas. This coherent arrangement is a strength. To make the progression more polished, group the positive details more deliberately and then introduce the problem with a clear transition. The sentence beginning “My overall experience was good, however” contains several linked points and would be easier to follow if divided into shorter sentences. A more explicit final paragraph could also state your recommendation before the closing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “feedback,” “overall experience,” “parking slot,” and “upcoming events.” The references to jazz, Ray Charles, and Italian food make the account specific. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or awkward, such as “lived concert,” “different sort of Italian food,” and “parking slot was too short.” These may make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for more natural expressions for live performances, food variety, and parking capacity, and check spelling and capitalisation, including “June” and “Italian.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt some complex sentence forms, particularly “not only … but also …” and the longer sentence explaining the parking difficulty. These show an effort to vary sentence structure, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors occur in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “we dance” should use a past-tense form, while “concert that was attended by me” has an awkward passive construction and is missing an article. The long parking sentence also joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Use straightforward past-tense sentences for the concert account, check singular and plural agreement, and divide long sentences to improve accuracy and readability.
