Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I am writing to inform you regarding the concert i attended last week.It was from the fox club reagding the fund raise money for the cancer dignosied people. This was at the national park near bridge terminal on saturday from 7pm to 12 pm.
To provide some background ,I want to say that concert was very good .Me and my friends enjoy that alot. They had proper arrangements for the food stalls and washrooms. The security system was impressive as i can say they were doing their job properly to maintain the smooth flow of crowed.
Regrettatly, the situation has caused by the traffic jam near that place. As we know that is busy area for buses and pedstrains. It took us two hours to go home after the concert . Next year if you choose the place with alot of parking space or maybe less busy spot. As a result it will attract more people and postivie feedbacks.
Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the Fox Club concert, explain that you enjoyed the food and washroom arrangements and the security, and suggest choosing a less busy venue next summer. These details make the letter relevant and give it a clear purpose. The positive feedback is more specific than the improvement suggestion, which is brief and does not explain how a different location would ease congestion or what facilities should be considered. The concert description is also somewhat unclear—for example, the fundraising purpose is difficult to understand. To strengthen the response further, clarify the event’s purpose and develop your suggestion with a practical detail, such as better traffic management or transport arrangements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a generally coherent sequence: it introduces the concert, describes what went well, and then raises a problem and proposes an improvement. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some links between ideas feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “To provide some background” does not quite introduce background information, while “As a result” does not clearly connect the proposed venue to attracting more people. The final paragraph also moves quickly from traffic problems to a recommendation. Use more direct transitions and make the relationship between each problem and solution explicit. A clearer closing sentence would also give the letter a more complete finish.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “proper arrangements,” “security system,” and “traffic jam.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “smooth flow of crowd,” although the phrasing is not fully natural. Spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make details harder to understand, particularly “reagding,” “dignosied,” and “postivie feedbacks.” Some collocations are also awkward, such as “the situation has caused by the traffic jam.” Proofread carefully and learn common combinations for describing events, facilities, and transport problems. More precise wording would help you express the fundraising purpose and your proposed improvements clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “Me and my friends enjoy that” needs a subject form and a past-tense verb, while “the situation has caused by the traffic jam” lacks the correct passive construction. The sentence beginning “Next year if you choose…” is also incomplete as written. Use complete sentences, check that verbs match the time being described, and practise forming suggestions with a clear subject and verb. Consistent capitalisation and spacing after full stops would improve accuracy and readability.
