Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my gratitude and warm thank you for organising multiple concerts and cultural events in the community park. Further, I would like to bring up some suggestions about the event, we had last summer.
Firstly, I would like to talk about the concerts which I attented. I attented the first event, which was a lively rock band performace by one of the most famous and renounded guitarist living in our area. After this terrific performance, I was elated and thrilled to attend the fusion solo perfomance by the Pink Star Lady that made my evening.
Mostly, I enjoyed the concert because we had plenty of food trucks, ice-cream vans and vending machines available onsite which kept everyone hydrated and calm.
At the last, I would suggest to keep enough seating arrangement for the old and the elderly to relax and enjoy the performances. Moreover, if you could arrange for a separate play-area for the kids that be extremely helpful as this would keep the children engaged, while the parents can enjoy their facourite performances.
I hope my suggestions would be taken taken into account and implemented wherever possible.
Yours faithfully,
Prateek Soni

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify the rock-band performance and the later solo performance, explain that the food and drink options contributed to your enjoyment, and suggest seating for older visitors and a play area for children. These are relevant, practical details, and the appreciative purpose is clear. The enjoyment explanation is less fully developed than the suggestions: the food stalls are mentioned, but you could explain more specifically how they improved the concert experience. Also clarify which performance you attended, since “the first event” and then the Pink Star Lady performance make it uncertain whether you attended one concert or two. More precise development would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: opening purpose, concert details, reasons for enjoyment, suggestions, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and transitions such as “Firstly” and “Moreover” signal the progression. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward: “At the last” does not introduce the suggestions naturally, and “Further” is not the clearest connection between the opening ideas. The shift from describing the rock band to the solo performance could also be made clearer, particularly because the task asks which concert you attended. Use more natural transitions and make the relationship between the performances explicit to strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range for a formal feedback letter, including expressive terms such as “lively,” “terrific,” and “elated,” as well as relevant event vocabulary like “food trucks” and “seating arrangement.” Some less common choices show ambition, but several are inaccurate or unnatural: “warm thank you” would be more naturally expressed as “sincere thanks,” while “renounded guitarist” appears to mean “renowned guitarist.” There are also spelling errors, including “attented,” “performace,” “perfomance,” and “facourite.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and polish. Check spelling carefully and favour natural collocations over elaborate wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the relative clause in “which was a lively rock band performance” and the conditional suggestion “if you could arrange…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. In “I would suggest to keep,” use “I would suggest keeping” or “I would suggest that you keep.” The clause “that be extremely helpful” needs “that would be extremely helpful,” and “the event, we had last summer” should not separate the clause with a comma. The repeated “taken taken” also needs correction. Review verb patterns, modal verbs, and punctuation; greater accuracy in these areas would make your varied sentence forms more controlled.
