Student answer (Band 7.5)

Nowadays, many international companies give their employees the opportunity to live and work in another country for a period of time. I believe this is highly beneficial for employees because it helps them develop personally and professionally, while companies can also gain several important advantages.

For employees, working abroad is an excellent way to gain new skills and experience. Living in a different country requires people to adapt to a new culture, communicate with different types of people and sometimes learn a foreign language. These experiences can make employees more confident, independent and flexible. In addition, working in an international environment can improve their career prospects because employers often value people who have experience of working across cultures. For example, an employee who spends two years working in Japan may learn how to communicate effectively with Japanese customers and colleagues, which could be useful when applying for senior positions.

Companies can also benefit greatly from sending their staff overseas. Firstly, employees who understand local cultures and markets can help a company expand its business internationally. They may have a better understanding of customers' needs and be able to build stronger relationships with local partners. Secondly, overseas experience can improve employees' performance when they return home. They often bring back new ideas, different working methods and valuable knowledge gained from other offices. For instance, a manager who works in a successful foreign branch may introduce its effective practices to the company's headquarters.

In conclusion, international work opportunities provide employees with valuable skills, confidence and career development. At the same time, companies benefit from employees who understand foreign markets and bring new ideas to the workplace. Therefore, this development can be advantageous for both sides.
