Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is significantly curtailed. While the essay identifies relevant points for both employees and companies, the arguments are underdeveloped and the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. The response addresses the prompt's requirements but does not extend or support the ideas sufficiently to reach a higher band. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples, ensuring you complete the essay structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance' and 'As a result', but they are sometimes used mechanically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This thing helps them', which lacks a precise antecedent. The abrupt ending severely impacts the overall coherence of the piece. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas flow logically to a full conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice or non-standard collocations, such as 'be more socialize' (should be 'socialize more') and 'distinct nation' (should be 'different countries'). The use of 'big' and 'many' is repetitive and basic. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations to convey your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('a workers of Canadian company are') and article usage errors ('in another country' vs 'in other countries'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete sentence at the end is a major issue. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for small errors that can distract the reader.
