Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing benefits for employees and companies. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding 'international relations' and 'learning,' and the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. While the main points are relevant, they lack the necessary extension and specific examples required for a higher band. The position is clear, but the overall development is insufficient to fully satisfy the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore,' 'For instance,' and 'Moreover,' but they are sometimes used repetitively or in a way that feels forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece. To improve, you should focus on creating smoother transitions between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, fully developed conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'making strong international relations' and 'learning new ideas' are used multiple times. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as using 'state' when 'country' or 'nation' would be more appropriate in this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate more precise control over word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'this is seen that' or 'this increase their knowledge.' There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'in different country' instead of 'in a different country'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of a wider range of complex structures and the persistence of basic grammatical errors limit the score in this criterion.
