Student answer (Band 7.5)

Nowadays, many large international companies give their employees the opportunity to live and work in another country for a certain period of time. This development can be highly beneficial for both employees and companies, as it provides workers with valuable personal and professional experience while helping businesses operate more effectively in international markets.

There are several reasons why working in another country can be good for employees. First of all, it allows them to develop new skills and gain experience in a different working environment. Employees have to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds, which can improve their communication, adaptability and problem-solving skills. In addition, living abroad can increase their confidence and independence because they have to manage everyday situations away from their familiar surroundings. For example, an employee from India who works for a company in Germany may learn how to communicate effectively with German colleagues and understand different approaches to teamwork and management. These experiences can improve the employee's future career prospects.

This development can also provide significant advantages for companies. One major benefit is that employees who have international experience can help their organisations understand foreign markets and customers. This can be particularly valuable when a company wants to expand its business into other countries. Furthermore, sending employees abroad can strengthen cooperation between different branches of the same organisation. Workers who have experienced different offices and cultures are often better able to communicate with international colleagues and share useful knowledge. For instance, a multinational technology company could send an employee to its Japanese branch, where the employee might learn about local customer preferences and later use this knowledge to help the company develop more suitable products.

In conclusion, spending time working in another country can greatly benefit employees by improving their professional skills, confidence and cultural awareness. At the same time, companies can benefit from a more adaptable workforce, better international cooperation and greater knowledge of foreign markets. Therefore, this opportunity can be valuable for both sides.
