Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response fully addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining both why the opportunity is good for employees and what advantages it brings to companies. The student maintains a clear position throughout the essay. Ideas are well developed and supported with relevant points, such as career development, exposure to new business practices, and improved international market understanding. For instance, the writer notes that living abroad exposes workers to 'new business practices, technologies and management styles' and that companies can 'expand into foreign markets and build stronger relationships.' These points directly answer both questions with appropriate supporting details, earning a strong Band 7.0 for fully addressing the prompt with well-extended ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving logically from the introduction to the benefits for employees, the advantages for companies, and a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to guide the reader, such as 'For employees', 'In addition', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly'. However, there are minor mechanical errors in punctuation and referencing, such as the comma splice in 'learn a foreign languages, These experiences...', which slightly holds the cohesion back from higher bands. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, maintaining a coherent overall structure that aligns well with the descriptors for a Band 7.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task with some flexibility and precision. Phrases such as 'multinational companies', 'career development', 'competitive in the job market', and 'attract and retain talented employees' show a good grasp of topic-specific lexis. There are, however, a few spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'employess', 'in an another country', 'different countries' (instead of country), and 'knowlegde'. Furthermore, some collocations could be more natural, such as 'bring new ideas, knowledge and working methods, that may improve organization's performance.' Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate and allows the message to be communicated clearly, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with frequent error-free sentences. The writer successfully uses complex structures such as relative clauses ('which can improve their professional skills') and conditional/participial elements. Grammatical control is generally good, but there are some persistent mechanical and structural errors, such as missing articles ('an internationally experienced workforce'), spelling slips, and a comma splice ('...and learn a foreign languages, These experiences...'). Another slight error is 'employess' and 'organization's performance' missing a determiner. These minor errors rarely impede communication, allowing the response to achieve a solid Band 6.5 for grammatical range and accuracy.
