Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why the opportunity is beneficial for employees and outlining the advantages for companies. The student discusses financial motivations, career growth, and technical upskilling for workers, as well as talent acquisition, staff motivation, and cost reduction for employers. Ideas are generally relevant and extended with examples, such as comparing SAP software usage in India with S4 and Ariba systems in Canada. However, some arguments tend to overgeneralise or lack fully seamless integration, placing the response comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor range where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, though some areas could be more thoroughly or clearly developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is arranged with a clear overall structure, utilizing an introduction, body paragraphs addressing employees and companies separately, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with awkward transitions and referencing issues (e.g., 'there are motivation amongs the other staff'). Cohesive devices are occasionally overused or inadequate, and sentences sometimes lack smooth logical bridges, which aligns the response with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'multinational companies', 'escalating', and 'international transfer'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'instigating their employees to settled down', 'gets hike in salary', 'ehances the perspective', and 'built trust'. Spelling and word-formation errors occasionally occur (e.g., 'amongs', 'settledown'), but they do not impede overall communication. This reflects the characteristics of a Band 6 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition in using subordinate clauses and conditional concepts. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions (e.g., 'a considerable amount of multinational companies instigating', 'when the person gets hike', 'this will built trust', 'no new hires will be conducted'). While these errors are noticeable and persist throughout the text, they rarely impede communication entirely, making Band 5.0 or 6.0 borderline, with 5.5 accurately capturing the frequency and intrusiveness of the grammatical slips.
