Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both why the opportunity is good for employees and the advantages it brings to companies. The student presents a clear position and supports ideas with examples, such as mentioning the work-life balance issues in Japan. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or general, and the connection between the arguments could be tighter. Despite minor leaps in logic, the main prompts are adequately covered, placing the task response securely at a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, maintaining an overall coherent structure, although the logical progression is at times hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Cohesive devices such as 'Take for instance', 'On top of that', and 'Therefore' are used, but referencing is sometimes unclear, notably with pronouns like 'he or she' or 'this'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas within paragraphs can be disjointed, reflecting a solid Band 5.5 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'work life balance', 'production', and 'foreign branches'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'thier' instead of 'their', 'comapies' instead of 'companies', and 'arguements' instead of 'arguments'. Word choice and collocations are occasionally unnatural or incorrect, such as 'Its asserting for everyone' and 'companies should implies somes new rules'. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, placing this criterion at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and punctuation, such as 'big international firms give perks', 'workers by seeing how other people managing', and comma splices before conjunctions. While meaning is generally recoverable despite the frequent grammatical errors, the high density of slips across basic and complex structures restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
