Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both why the opportunity is good for employees and what advantages it presents for companies. The student successfully identifies personal benefits such as team collaboration, cultural exploration, and improved relationships, while also noting corporate advantages like enhanced global reputation, brand building, and economic growth. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed and would benefit from deeper elaboration rather than brief examples. For instance, the mention of 'townhall' meetings touches upon a valid point, but the explanation remains basic. Despite these minor limitations, the main prompt requirements are covered clearly throughout the text, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organisation. The introduction introduces the topic, body paragraphs are divided into employee benefits and corporate advantages, and a conclusion wraps up the main points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'For example' and 'Furthermore'. Referencing is generally clear, but transitional links between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Overall, the structural framework is coherent and easy to follow, satisfying the criteria for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'multi-national', 'collaboration', 'reputation', and 'economic growth'. However, there are several noticeable vocabulary errors, awkward word choices, and typos throughout the text, such as 'maintaing' instead of 'maintaining', 'buiding' instead of 'building', and 'poeple' instead of 'people'. Collocations are sometimes unnatural, for instance, 'organize trip to their head quarters' instead of 'organize trips to their headquarters'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 7. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, showing an attempt to use relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing (e.g., 'By sending staff abroad contributes significantly...'). However, grammatical control is inconsistent, resulting in noticeable errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('By sending staff abroad contributes' instead of 'Sending staff abroad contributes' or 'By sending staff abroad, companies contribute') and awkward phrasing like 'this would help them seeing each other'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors occur, they rarely impede communication. The command of grammar reflects the characteristics of Band 6, where simple structures are handled well, but complex constructions introduce frequent minor inaccuracies.
