Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both why companies offer this opportunity (such as market competition and building foreign relations) and the advantages for businesses (increased productivity and cost savings). The student presents a clear position and supports ideas with relevant explanations, such as remote work savings and understanding local populations. However, there are some instances where ideas tend to over-generalise or lack deeper specific examples. For instance, the mention of 'vocational courses and incentives' touches upon employee benefits, but the development of these points remains somewhat surface-level. Overall, the task is well-handled and covers all prompt requirements adequately, aligning closely with the criteria for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct points, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases like 'The second reason is' and 'One of the significant benefit is' guide the reader, but referencing and grammatical cohesion suffer in places, such as 'Another positive effect of this is save enormous amount of money.' Additionally, there are minor linking errors that make the progression slightly bumpy. These issues prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the task, including terms like 'multinational', 'predominant', 'remotely', and 'remuneration'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'interpises' (enterprises), 'substanial' (substantial), 'teir' (their), 'konwledge' (knowledge), 'modified' (modify), 'boders' (borders), 'couses' (causes), and 'infastructure' (infrastructure). While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching Band 6.0. The student demonstrates an adequate range for the task, but the persistent mechanical spelling mistakes across less common lexical items drop the score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'When employees get a chance to live and work on foreign turf...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'One of the significant benefit is', missing prepositions, and tense inconsistencies. For example, 'campanies may not require infastructure, electricity bill and so on. Owing to this they can save their money and utilise on other meaningful projects'. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, placing the grammar performance at a Band 5.5.
