Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why the opportunity is beneficial for employees and the advantages for companies. The student attempts to present relevant ideas, such as learning new technologies, developing personal confidence, and bringing back international strategies to improve company sales. However, the development of these ideas remains somewhat repetitive and limited. For instance, the discussion on building relationships and learning cultures is reiterated across multiple sentences without being fully extended into deeper insights or concrete examples. The example provided regarding someone working in Pakistan and moving to Canada is a bit vague and underdeveloped. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 5 by addressing the task and presenting a clear position, but the ideas require more detailed support and elaboration to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the essay into paragraphs with some markers like 'First of all', 'Although', and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive statements. For example, the sentence 'Although, employees can learn about new advancements...' misuses 'Although' as a transitional conjunction. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed, jumping abruptly between employee benefits and company advantages without smooth bridging. Repetitive referencing and mechanical use of cohesive devices lead to a choppy reading experience. This matches the characteristics of Band 5, where there is some overall organisation, but the lack of clear progression and faulty cohesion prevent a higher score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited range of vocabulary that is minimally adequate for discussing the topic, featuring words and phrases such as 'international companies', 'communication skill', and 'strategies'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout, such as 'spend a some period of time to another country', 'next level sale', and 'colleages'. Spelling mistakes like 'tecnhnology' and 'perfessionally' also occur. Less common lexical items are attempted, but they are often inaccurate or poorly collated. This performance aligns with Band 5, where the vocabulary range is restricted and errors in word choice and spelling cause some distraction for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb-object constructions. When the student attempts more complex forms, they are frequently faulty, as seen in sentences like 'For example, if someone who working in a pakistan but for some period of time have a chance...' and 'They will made advance changes...'. Frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect prepositions ('spend time to another country'), and tense inconsistencies, are present throughout the text. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 5.
