Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt, discussing both employee benefits and company advantages, and includes a clear concluding stance. However, the ideas are relatively brief, under-developed, and repetitive, particularly with the conclusion essentially repeating the second sentence of the introduction almost word-for-word. More importantly, the essay suffers significantly from length under-development, containing only 190 words against the required 250-word minimum. This major negative point restricts the overall development and places the response firmly within the lower-mid band categories. Consequently, Task Achievement is penalised for falling well short of the word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four short paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at paragraphing with an introduction, two body paragraphs covering the prompt's two questions, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is weak. Paragraph transitions feel abrupt, and cohesive devices are limited and sometimes misused, such as the sudden lowercase start and lack of connection in 'it will improve safety standard'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'learn their work culture' where the pronoun antecedent is ambiguous. Overall cohesion is mechanical and rudimentary, resulting in a score that reflects basic organizational attempts but lacks smooth progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'globalized', 'multinational', 'operational techniques', and 'cross cultural understanding'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, incorrect forms, and spelling/typographical mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'offers' instead of 'offer' in agreement with plural subjects, 'increasing trends', 'different countries' following 'a', 'internation visit', 'stratagic', 'benifits', and 'collobroation'. These lexical and spelling inaccuracies are noticeable and occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, fitting the descriptors for a band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'When individuals return back from internation visit, they will give presentation...' and 'allowing staff to live and work abroad creates a clear win-win scenario.' However, basic grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'companies offers', 'organization that employ'), missing plural markers, awkward phrasing ('expose them to learn'), and redundant expressions like 'return back'. While the meaning remains mostly clear despite these frequent errors, the high density of basic grammatical slips prevents the response from achieving a higher score.
