Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both why the opportunity is good for employees and what advantages it brings to companies. The student maintains a clear position throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as learning to work with different cultures and expanding business practices in other countries. Although some arguments could be explored in greater depth, the prompt is fully satisfied in a balanced manner, earning a solid Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing each part of the prompt, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect ideas, such as "To commence with", "In addition", and "On the other hand". However, paragraphing and transitions occasionally feel somewhat mechanical, which keeps the response at a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 level. Referencing is generally clear, ensuring the reader can follow the writer's line of thought.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'scrutinize', 'international experience', and 'competitive'. However, there are notable word choice and phrasing inaccuracies, such as 'following the new trend of give' instead of 'giving', and a slightly awkward expression like 'way of thingking'. Spelling is generally accurate, though minor slips occur. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas clearly, matching the descriptors for Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses and conditional structures. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, notably 'companies following the new trend of give their employees' which lacks correct verb form integration, and a run-on structure in 'so which is helpful for them'. Punctuation is mostly functional. While these errors do not impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a Band 7, placing it firmly at Band 6.
