Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by discussing benefits for employees, such as professional development and language skills, and advantages for companies, such as knowledge transfer and understanding international markets. However, due to the severe length issue, the ideas remain highly undeveloped, brief, and bullet-point-like rather than fully extended and supported paragraphs. The student's text contains only 165 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This major shortfall prevents a full exploration of the prompt's requirements, resulting in a low task achievement score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text shows an attempt at basic structural organization with transitional phrases like 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'Conclusion'. However, the overall progression is heavily disrupted by the extremely fragmented structure, particularly the final 'Conclusion' paragraph which contains no actual concluding sentence or statement. Paragraphing is attempted, but the third paragraph reads more like a fragmented list than cohesive prose. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than flexibly, reflecting a Band 5 level of organizational control.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally repetitive and basic, featuring frequent phrasing like 'benefits for employees' and 'professional development'. There are noticeable collocation and word choice errors, such as 'live and working' instead of 'living and working', 'cukture' for 'culture', 'cooperastion', and 'internationsl markets'. While the student attempts some less common topical items, the density of spelling and lexical errors places the response firmly within the Band 5 category where limitations and errors become noticeable to the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical structures attempted are largely simple or faulty complex constructions. Sentences frequently lack grammatical completeness, such as 'However, advantages to the companies, transfer of knowledge it will help bring new skills as well as ideas,' which contains glaring grammatical errors and lack of subject-verb agreement. Frequent errors in punctuation and verb forms cause considerable strain for the reader. There is very little control over complex sentences, making a Band 4.5 or 5.0 appropriate, leaning toward a 5.0 for the presence of some recognisable sentence patterns.
