Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why the opportunity is good for employees and what advantages it brings to companies. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on employees focuses mainly on getting a change in lifestyle and personal anecdotes involving family members rather than exploring professional development or cultural adaptability. Similarly, the explanation for companies mentions international connections, but the examples are repetitive and slightly anecdotal rather than analytical. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the supporting points tend to over-generalise and lack depth in places, which aligns the response closely with Band 6.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and body paragraphs are introduced with logical markers like 'First in the list' and 'Secondly'. However, cohesion is often mechanical and sometimes faulty. For example, transitional phrases such as 'To evaluate this essay I reterate that' are unnatural and detract from smooth progression. Referencing and pronoun use are occasionally confusing, such as 'To explain thispeople in different countries' where spacing errors and abrupt transitions occur. Paragraphing is present and separates the two main prompts, but internal logical progression within paragraphs sometimes stalls due to repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'multinational companies', 'investments', and 'strategies'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'indetail', 'freinds', 'wheather', 'canda', and 'reterate'. Furthermore, expressions like 'spend a certain kind of time' and 'get a change to their lives' are awkward and lack precision. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, noticeable errors and limited control over less common lexical items restrict the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures with varying degrees of success. However, frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues persist throughout the text. Examples of errors include missing prepositions ('went a vacation trip'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Most of multinational companies provide...'), and tense inconsistencies ('which she haven't seen before'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing spaces between words (e.g., 'To explain thispeople'). Although these errors rarely completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the grammar from reaching a higher band.
