Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been argued that many large multinational companies offer their employees the opportunity to live and work in foreign countries for a certain period of time. In my opinion, this is a positive development because it allows highly skilled employees to work in a diverse environment, learn different practices from colleagues around the world, and gain valuable international experience. Also, the companies are greatly benefited as they do not require to spend huge capital on hiring external employees for the open market which saves them money as well as time. This essay will discuss the reason for this trend and the advantages of living and working abroad.
One important reason is that it provided an opportunity to work in a diverse work environment. It allow the employees to observe from their collegues who they are tackling the issues, how are they handling the customer, how are they dealing with heavy workloand tight deadlines. As a result, employees try to implement the some of the good ideas which they think would help them succeed in their career goals. For example- there are an increasing number of Indian nationals work in the USA in big tech companies and they benefit a lot switching the western work culture and practices.
Furthemore, companies are also largely benefited by this move as they do not need to hire and train external candidates which helps them saves a high amount of capital and time in hiring new employees. Hiring process is very time consuming as well as expensive. Therefore companes often send thier experienced employees to thier foreign locations to work so that they do look for another person for that role. For example- IT companes in India send expats to cuountries like US and Canada to work as an expat and allow them to save millions of their hiring budget each year.
In conclusion, it is a good initiative for the companies to give thier employees an opportunity to work in foreign countries as it allows the employees a chnace to work and lean in diverse group of people as well as companies benefit by saving huge amounts of money and time in recruiting new employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both why international assignments are beneficial for employees and what advantages they bring to companies. The writer presents a clear position from the introduction through to the conclusion. Ideas are adequately extended and supported with relevant examples, such as Indian nationals working in the USA in tech companies. While some of the supporting details could be slightly more deeply developed to reach the highest bands, the task is covered well with a logical flow of ideas that directly answers the prompt. The response meets all core requirements for this criterion, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are grouped into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, distinct body paragraphs focusing on employee benefits and company advantages respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'One important reason is', 'Furthemore', and 'In conclusion', although there are minor instances of repetitive linking patterns. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes, ensuring the overall progression of the argument is easy for the reader to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'multinational companies', 'diverse environment', 'international experience', and 'recruiting'. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary alongside occasional word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'do not require to spend' instead of 'do not need to spend', and spelling slips like 'collegues' and 'cuountries'. However, the lexical range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly without impeding communication, fitting the criteria for a band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('It allow the employees'), tense inconsistencies ('it provided an opportunity'), and missing articles or prepositions ('work in USA', 'switch the western work culture'). While these errors do not impede overall communication and the general meaning remains clear, they persist enough to prevent the writing from achieving a higher band.
