Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, many large international companies give their employees the opportunity to live and work in another country for a certain period of time. This development can be beneficial for employees because it allows them to gain new experiences and skills. At the same time, companies can also benefit from having employees with international experience and a broader understanding of different cultures.
For employees, working in another country can be a valuable opportunity for both personal and professional development. Firstly, they can learn new ways of working and gain experience with different systems and technologies. They may also improve their communication skills because they have to work with people from different cultural backgrounds. In addition, living abroad can make employees more independent and confident as they have to adapt to a new environment. For example, I moved from India to Canada to work in the healthcare sector. Although adapting to a new healthcare system and workplace was challenging at first, it helped me become more familiar with different professional practices and improved my ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
There are also several advantages for companies. Employees who have worked abroad can bring valuable knowledge and experience back to their original workplace. This can help companies improve their services and introduce new ideas. Moreover, employees with international experience may be better prepared to work with customers and colleagues from different countries. This is particularly important for multinational companies that operate in several parts of the world. For instance, a healthcare company with employees who have experience in different healthcare systems may be able to understand international practices and provide better services to a wider range of patients.
In conclusion, allowing employees to work in another country can help them develop professionally, become more independent and understand different cultures. Companies can also benefit because these employees return with new skills, knowledge and international experience. Therefore, this development can be advantageous for both employees and employers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the task by clearly explaining why the opportunity is good for employees and what advantages it brings to companies. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are well developed and extended with relevant explanations, such as the personal mention of moving from India to Canada in the healthcare sector, which provides a concrete and supportive example. The discussion on professional development for workers and international expansion for multinational firms is thoughtful, coherent, and appropriately expanded. The candidate meets all task requirements successfully, earning a well-deserved band 7.0 for addressing both prompt questions thoroughly with clear supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, starting with a well-framed introduction, followed by distinct body paragraphs focusing separately on employees and companies, and ending with a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are used appropriately, such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'For instance', which guide the reader smoothly through the argument. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and logically to separate distinct ideas. Although the referencing and logical transitions are clear and reliable, the essay slightly lacks the more sophisticated, flexible cohesion characteristic of a higher band, making 7.0 an accurate and fair reflection of the cohesive structures employed.
Lexical Resource: Band 7.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, allowing for some flexibility and precision in discussing professional environments. Words and phrases such as 'beneficial', 'professional development', 'multinational companies', and 'healthcare sector' are handled well. The writer also attempts less common items with general awareness of style and collocation, like 'broad understanding of different cultures' and 'diverse backgrounds'. While there are occasional repetitive phrases and vocabulary is mostly standard rather than truly sophisticated or uncommon, communication is smooth and unaffected by lexical errors, fully aligning with the descriptors for a band 7.0 in lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
The essay demonstrates good control of grammar and punctuation. The writer uses a variety of complex structures alongside simple forms, evidenced by sentences such as 'Although adapting to a new healthcare system and workplace was challenging at first, it helped me become more familiar with different professional practices.' There are frequent error-free sentences throughout the text, and punctuation is managed properly. While minor slips or slightly repetitive structural patterns appear occasionally, control remains strong and complex clauses are handled without obscuring meaning. This performance fits comfortably within the band 7.0 descriptor for grammatical range and accuracy.
