Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both the benefits for employees and the advantages for companies. The position is clear throughout, and relevant ideas are presented, such as skill development and knowledge transfer upon returning home. However, some ideas remain under-developed or briefly stated rather than fully extended. For instance, the example of the employee moving from India to Canada is provided to illustrate the point, but it lacks elaboration on how this practically impacts the individual or company in depth. This places the task response at a level where all parts are covered, but certain sections require more thorough explanation and support to reach a higher tier.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates an overall coherent arrangement, and the writer attempts to group related ideas into paragraphs. However, the organisation suffers from a lack of clear overall progression in places, and some structural connections feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are at times inadequate or repetitive, with sentences linked mechanically rather than flowing smoothly. For example, the use of transitions like 'Furthermore' and 'In addition' is somewhat mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun shifts between 'you', 'he', and 'they'. Paragraphing is attempted, but some paragraphs feel fragmented rather than developing a single cohesive theme, which points directly to the characteristics of this level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing work opportunities. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation throughout the response, such as 'neumerous', 'culyure', 'cometation', 'stretegy', and 'tred'. These vocabulary and spelling inaccuracies can cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the natural flow of ideas. While the student attempts to use less common items like 'global market positioning' and 'career progression', the frequency of lexical slips restricts the vocabulary score, as the range remains basic and repetitive in places.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of structures, with mostly simple sentences and some attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, such as 'it provide neumerous benefits', 'employee give fair chance', and lowercase beginnings to sentences. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. Although the writer attempts complex sentences, the control over grammar is inconsistent, preventing the text from achieving a balanced mix of error-free structures typical of higher bands.
