Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many international countries give their employees the chance to live and work in another country for a short time. This initiative brings several benefits for both the workers and companies. In this essay , I would like to discuss why this opportunity is good for both sides.
For employees, working in a foreign country helps them to grow both personally and professionally. Firstly, they can learn new and innovative things, adopt modern work methods and improve their language abilities. Secondly, experiencing a new culture makes them more adaptable and confident. These skills make them stand out and become more independent people.
For companies, this trend brings major advantages. Firstly, sending experienced staff aboard helps in training the local team and maintaining the same quality of work across all international branches. Secondly, it improves communication and trust between the main office.
In conclusion, allowing staff to work aboard is a win- win situation. It helps employees gain valuable international experience and helps companies build a stronger global presence. Finally offering international opportunities helps companies attract and keep top talent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the benefits for employees and the advantages for companies, presenting a clear overall position. However, it falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 179 words against the minimum of 250 words. Because of this length constraint, the ideas presented in the body paragraphs are somewhat under-developed. For instance, the points about cultural experience and staff training are introduced with relevant examples or mechanisms, but they are not extended sufficiently to fully explore the prompt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand the response by providing deeper analysis and more detailed explanations for each point while strictly meeting the word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction through to the conclusion. The text is divided into appropriate paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt. The writer uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of the essay. However, some referencing is slightly faulty, as seen in the sentence ending with 'between the main office' where the comparison or connection is incomplete, and cohesive devices can feel somewhat mechanical. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing and paragraph links are seamless and unobtrusive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate main ideas clearly. There are successful attempts to use less common items and appropriate topic-related vocabulary, such as 'initiative', 'adaptable', and 'global presence'. Nonetheless, there are noticeable lexical errors, particularly with word choices and spelling slip-ups, such as writing 'aboard' instead of 'abroad' in multiple instances, and referring to 'international countries' instead of 'international companies'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight an inconsistency in lexical control. To improve in this area, the writer needs to demonstrate greater precision in word choice, avoid repetitive spelling mistakes, and incorporate a wider range of sophisticated, less common phrasing with better collocation control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with correct use of structures like 'allowing staff to work abroad is a win-win situation' and 'experiencing a new culture makes them more adaptable'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as the unnecessary space before the comma in 'essay ,', and occasional article usage issues. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments without difficulty. To move up to a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with a higher frequency of error-free sentences, alongside a stronger command of punctuation and minor grammatical patterns.
