Student answer (Band 6.5)
These days multinational organizations allow their employees to spend some time in different nations for employment and living purposes. It is a great opportunity for workers to gain valuable experience in foreign countries, and it is beneficial for companies because it gives them a competitive edge in the market and higher retention rates.
Working and living in a different country can help staff to gain invaluable experience. As workers would work with the diverse group of people in an organization, they would become better in understanding the needs and perspectives of various individuals, and they would develop team building skills. This would not only benefit their career but also help in personal development. For instance, EY company usually sends their employees to developed nations like Canada, where workers gain valuable experience which help them to grow both professionally and personally.
Sending staff to another nations can help companies in retaining staff. Employees would less likely to resign from their jobs because they would feel that a company has invested in them. This would not only increase retention rates but also lower abseentism rates. Furthermore, companies who take the decision of sending their staff to overseas can get a competitive edge in the market. Since staff would be motivated, they would give their best when they would come back from foreign country, and a firm would eventually flourish. For instance, After completing a tenure in Canada, employees would work with their full capacity so that skills learnt can be successfully applied.
To conclude, opportunity provided to staff for spending some time outside their country on employment or living purposes would be useful for staff in terms of improving their skills, while companies can be benifitted by getting a competitive advantage in the market and less resignations from workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear overall position: overseas placements can develop employees and help companies through stronger retention and competitiveness. The employee benefits are supported with relevant points about understanding diverse perspectives, teamwork, and personal development. The company discussion also explains why staff may feel valued and return motivated. These ideas are extended with examples, although the EY example is broad and the final example about applying skills is hypothetical rather than specific. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely how international experience creates a competitive advantage—for example, through improved knowledge of overseas markets or stronger client relationships—and develop the examples so the links to each benefit are clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear structure: an introduction presents both sides, separate body paragraphs discuss employees and companies, and the conclusion summarises the main points. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. This clear organisation supports the argument throughout. Some connections are less smooth, however: the company paragraph moves from retention to competitiveness and then to employee motivation without fully explaining how these points relate. Repeated use of “would” also makes parts of the reasoning sound formulaic. Use more varied referencing and transitions, and make the cause-and-effect links between each company benefit explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing international work, employee development, and business outcomes. Phrases such as “competitive edge,” “retention rates,” “diverse group,” and “professional and personal” show an attempt to use topic-appropriate language. Meaning remains clear, but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “better in understanding,” “lower abseentism rates,” and “full capacity.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “benifitted” and “abseentism.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise phrasing would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional reasoning (“Since staff would be motivated…”) and relative clauses (“which help them to grow…”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the errors rarely obstruct understanding. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, particularly with articles, plurals, agreement, and verb forms: “another nations” should be “another nation” or “other nations,” and “experience which help” needs subject–verb agreement. The repeated “would” constructions also limit the range of structures. To improve, check agreement and noun forms, and vary conditional sentences with accurate present-tense explanations or other complex patterns.
