Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays many large international companies offer their staff the opportunity to spend a period of time living and working in another country. In my opinion, this is a great opportunity for the personal and professional growth of the employees. International companies have a strong presence across multiple countries or jurisdictions and it is worth noting that each office has a distinct work environment; therefore such an opportunity give the employees a chance to learn about diverse strategies and cross-border transactions.
Additionally, it is very common for the employees to permanently settle down in countries where they spend a period of time living and working if the culture and values of the international office resonate with them. Therefore, from the point of view of the employees, it is a great opportunity for them, as they can learn about new strategies and technology, and develop unique skills.
On the other hand, such an opportunity is also extremely beneficial for the development of the company because at the end of the day, the employees will return to their home office and this is the place where they will add real value. After returning, the employees will implement their new learnings and skills at their home office. In fact, they will not only implement it, but also transfer their learnings to the employees who did not get this opportunity.
At the end of the day, It is the home office that gets all the benefit of their employees development. Furthermore, as most of the companies these days do cross-border transactions, therefore employees also bring new clients to their home office.
In conlusion, I would say that this practice benefits both the companies and its employees. The business of the companies grow when their employees are well equipped with diverse skills and qualities. At the same time, more opportunities also open up for employees who are highly skilled and well educated.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear overall view that overseas placements benefit employees and companies. For employees, you identify learning new strategies, technology and skills, while for companies you explain that returning staff can apply and share what they have learned and may bring clients. These are relevant points, and the explanation of knowledge transfer gives the company side some support. However, the employee benefits are developed less fully: the possibility of settling permanently abroad is mentioned but not explained as a clear advantage, and the discussion could show more directly how international experience improves career prospects or personal understanding. The response therefore covers the task, but some ideas need fuller explanation and more specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall structure: the opening introduces the topic, the next paragraphs discuss employees and companies, and the conclusion restates the central view. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” help signal the direction of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or imprecise. “At the end of the day” is repeated, and “therefore” is used in a sentence where the relationship between the clauses is not fully clear. The reference in “they will not only implement it” is also vague because “it” could refer to learning, skills, or both. To strengthen progression, use more varied links and make references explicit, while ensuring each paragraph develops one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “cross-border transactions,” “distinct work environment,” “resonate,” and “transfer their learnings.” These choices show an attempt to use more specific and less common language, and the meaning is generally clear. Some expressions are less natural or precise, however: “permanently settle down” is an awkward way to describe relocating, “new learnings” is less idiomatic than “new knowledge,” and “the business of the companies grow” contains an inaccurate word form and collocation. There is also a spelling error in “conlusion.” Aim for more natural business-related collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a longer sentence with a semicolon and a clause introduced by “because.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “such an opportunity give the employees” needs subject–verb agreement (“gives”), and “the employees development” needs a possessive form (“employees’ development”). In “as most of the companies these days do cross-border transactions, therefore…,” the conjunctions are used redundantly; use either “as” or “therefore.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “It” after the comma. Review agreement, possessives, and sentence linking, while continuing to use complex structures with clearer control.
