Nowadays many large international companies offer their staff the opportunity to spend a period of time living and working in another country.

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many multinational companies these days have adapted to the culture of sending their employees abroad in order to work and live there. This opportunity is beneficial for employees in that it offers them a unique experience of a new country, and adds to more professional and networking opportunities. As for the companies, it helps strengthen their international presence, and earns them an employee that becomes a valuable asset for the company.
In employee culture, being stationed out of country for work is perceived as a huge achievement that comes with many benefits. Firstly, it is thought to be an amazing opportunity to explore the new country and its culture; including its traditions and customs, languages, food, and the uniqueness of the daily life there. Secondly, working in a new space, adapting to their work practices, and building connections are all advantages worth relocating for. For example, I remember working with this Emergency Medicine consultant who came from Australia to Pakistan to work and lead a nationwide training program in First Aid capacity building. She reported that it added to her personal growth through her experiences of the richness of Pakistani culture and life, and professionally by conducting valuable research, making new connections and collaborating on policy-making regarding the poor pre-hospital care in Pakistan.
The stationing of employees abroad benefits the companies just as much as the employees. The candidate returns to the country feeling valuable, motivated and ready to impart the newly added knowledge and contributes to better growth of company. In addition to this, company's image and representation abroad strengthens too, when the employee gels in with the international team smoothly and contributes in the success of their vision.
In conclusion, sending employees out of country for the purpose of work is an amazing opportunity for the individual and the company equally. The candidate returns with an experience of a lifetime, while the company benefits with the improved efficiay and performance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear, relevant position: overseas assignments can benefit employees personally and professionally, while companies gain stronger international representation and improved performance. The example of the Australian consultant in Pakistan gives useful support to the employee benefits, particularly through cultural learning, research and professional connections. The company advantages, however, are less fully explained. The points about the employee returning motivated and the company’s image improving are relevant, but the response could show more specifically how these outcomes help the organisation—for example, through knowledge transfer, stronger local partnerships or better understanding of a foreign market. This clear coverage, with some ideas more developed than others, fits the response’s level; fuller explanation of the company benefits would strengthen it further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction previews both sides, separate body paragraphs discuss employees and companies, and the conclusion restates the main position. Sequencing within the employee paragraph is also easy to follow, with “Firstly” and “Secondly” introducing distinct benefits before the example. Some linking is less smooth or precise. For instance, “In addition to this” introduces the company’s image, but the connection between that point and the employee returning home is not fully developed. The phrase “The candidate” also shifts the reference from employees generally to one individual, which can make the discussion less clear. More explicit links between each benefit and its consequence would make progression more consistently logical and cohesion less reliant on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “international presence,” “personal growth,” “collaborating,” and “policy-making.” These choices help explain both cultural and professional benefits, and the example adds some specificity. There are also several imprecise or unnatural expressions that limit flexibility and control: “adapted to the culture of sending” is awkward, “in employee culture” is unclear, and “gels in with the international team” is informal for this essay. “Improved efficiay” also contains a spelling error and weakens the conclusion. Aim for more natural collocations and a consistently formal register, such as “offer overseas assignments,” “among employees,” and “integrates effectively with the international team.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the opening sentence with “in that” and the example sentence describing the consultant’s work. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions remain. In “it offers them a unique experience of a new country, and adds to more professional and networking opportunities,” the parallel structure is uneven; “offers … and creates” would be more controlled. “The candidate returns … and contributes” also has an unclear subject relationship, while “company’s image” needs a determiner such as “the company’s image.” The semicolon before “including” in the first employee-benefit sentence is not appropriate punctuation. Review sentence parallelism, articles and punctuation, while retaining the complex structures already attempted.
