Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, many foreign companies offer their employees the opportunity to spend time living and working abroad. This development provides employees with the ability to have foreign work experience and learn new skills.
One advantage of employees spending time abroad is that it helps them acquire useful skills. These skills help to improve the staff's delivery towards the company and inturn increase their profit margins. New skills are often acquired by watching how foreign operators work and solve task. This allows the staff to learn new things and pass it on to other employees. For instance, working for Deloitte Canada as a Nigerian, will give the staff insights on how the Canada branch functions. This will also help teach the staff ways on how the Canada branch flourishes. These acquired skills can be brought to Nigeria and help improve the revenue for the Nigerian branch.
Another advantage employees spending time abroad has on the company is that, it allows for increased fame. A good employee with good skills and intellects, is a good representation for the company. This puts the company on the spotlight among global ventures especially when the employee is closing deals under the company's name. For instance, an advertisement company who sends the employee to work for a company abroad, stands a chance of gaining international fame. This occurs if the employee performs exceptionally well.
In conclusion, foreign companies offer their staff an opportunity to spend time living and working in a different country. This gives the company an oppotunity to increase their profit margins and gain useful popularity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it explains that employees can gain skills abroad and that companies may benefit through greater international visibility. The Deloitte Canada/Nigeria example helps illustrate how knowledge could be transferred to another branch, and the advertising-company example supports the point about reputation. However, the employee benefits are developed more clearly than the company advantages, which are largely reduced to fame and visibility. The claim that an employee’s performance will bring international recognition would be stronger if you explained how this could lead to new clients, partnerships, or revenue. The conclusion also shifts to profit margins, an outcome not fully established in the body. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation of its practical effects.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing the two questions, and a conclusion. Topic sentences such as “One advantage of employees spending time abroad” make the paragraph focus easy to follow, while examples generally appear in relevant places. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, however: “This” and “These skills” recur without always making the precise reference clear, and several sentences repeat the idea of learning or gaining skills. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from employee performance to company fame. Use more varied linking and referencing, and make the relationship between each claim and its consequence explicit. This would create smoother progression within paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “foreign work experience,” “profit margins,” “global ventures,” and “international fame.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning remains clear. Some word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive, though: “staff’s delivery towards the company” is unclear, “solve task” is not natural in this context, and “good skills and intellects” is awkward. There are also spelling errors in “inturn” and “oppotunity.” Aim for more natural business-related phrasing and check spelling carefully. For example, describe employees as improving their “performance” or “contribution,” and refer to “solving problems” rather than “solve task.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes a mix of simple and complex forms, such as “This allows the staff to learn new things and pass it on to other employees” and the conditional sentence beginning “This occurs if the employee performs exceptionally well.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. In “Another advantage employees spending time abroad has on the company,” the subject and verb do not agree; a clearer form is “Another advantage that employees spending time abroad offers companies is…”. The sentence “A good employee with good skills and intellects, is…” also has an unnecessary comma separating the subject from its verb. Review agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, while continuing to use subordinate clauses to show relationships between ideas.
