Student answer (Band 6.5)

In today's world, there are multiple multinational organizations that have given the opportunity to their employees to work from abroad. I believe this is beneficial for staff to explore a new culture outside the country. Additionally, it has various advantages to the organization, such as improved employee retention rates and new business ideas.

Firstly, employees can improve their communication skills. Better communication skills will attract more clients internationally. Secondly, living in a different country makes them more independent and confident. While living abroad, one experiences various problems and enhances their problem-solving skills. An individual who has gained this transferable skill becomes more confident in life. For instance, my cousin had experience with Dell Technologies in India. She was allowed to move to the UK on a work basis. She used to be an introverted person; perhaps moving to a different country has completely changed her personality. Now, she has become a new confident person having great communication and public speaking skills.

On the other Hand, it has a positive impact on the company's overall development. One advantage is that staff feel connected and will give long-term commitment to the company. Another advantage is that internationally experienced employees will bring more business ideas and plans. For example, an IT-based company in India named Avaso-Technologies gives job offers in various countries after completing 3 years. This is a great idea to retain the employees and motivate them to perform their best.

In conclusion, abroad work placements are great options for both employees and companies. One gets the internal exposure and other gets the experienced employees that can contribute in company's success.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear, relevant position: overseas placements can benefit employees through communication and independence, and companies through retention and new ideas. The examples about your cousin and Avaso-Technologies help make these points concrete. This meets the task well, but development is uneven: the employee benefits are explained in more detail, while the company advantages are stated more briefly. For instance, “bring more business ideas and plans” would be stronger if you explained how experience in another market helps generate those ideas. The conclusion summarises both sides, though “internal exposure” is not clearly explained. More specific cause-and-effect reasoning across both parts would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for employee and company benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” make the main stages apparent. This is a coherent arrangement, although some linking is mechanical and ideas within paragraphs could connect more smoothly. For example, the move from communication skills to attracting international clients is understandable but would benefit from an explicit explanation of the link. The reference “it has a positive impact” is also somewhat broad, as the reader must infer that “it” means overseas work placements. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions by showing relationships between ideas, not only listing them.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “multinational organizations,” “employee retention rates,” “transferable skill,” and “problem-solving skills.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and the examples are easy to understand. There are also some imprecise or unnatural expressions that limit flexibility and collocational control: “work from abroad” is less exact than “work overseas,” “on a work basis” is awkward, and “internal exposure” does not clearly convey the intended benefit. “New confident person” is also an unnatural phrase. Aim for precise, natural combinations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “advantage” and “skills.” The meaning remains clear, but more accurate phrasing would make the vocabulary more effective and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “While living in a different country…” and “after completing 3 years.” Most sentences are understandable, and errors rarely obstruct the message. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain. For example, “One gets the internal exposure and other gets the experienced employees” needs articles (“one… the other…”) and clearer parallel structure; “contribute in company’s success” needs a possessive article and the appropriate preposition (“contribute to the company’s success”). Capitalisation is inconsistent in “On the other Hand,” and the sentence beginning “An individual who has gained…” is awkwardly constructed. Review articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied structures.
