Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, many multinational companies give opportunities to their employees to stay and work in a different country. There are various benefits for employess such as learning different work culture and diversity as well as advantages for companies like high productivity and better job satisfaction in their employees.

To commence with, working and staying in a new country help emplyees to learn new work

culture and how to work in a dynamic team. In other words when people get out from their comfort zone, they start learning new things which can ultimately help them to achieve their work goals. Furthermore, working with people from different countries can give chance to employees to learn their work tactics which may be better to improve the productivity. For instance, when an Indian worker works in Canada, that employee will talk in English only so that automatically help that particular employee to improve their communication skills.

On the other hand, this approach can help companies to increase their productivity and job satisfaction among employees. When workers spend a period of time in a different work environment they learn new things which they can apply in their working style. That may help employees to improve their performance at work. In addition to it, giving such opportunities to employees by company can increase the job satisfaction in workers and that can attract new talent in an enterprise. For example, satisfied employees give good feedback about their company and which may help companies to improve their image in job market in order to attract good employees.

In conclusion, living and working in another country can help employees to learn new skills and work culture. It can also help companies to increase their productivity and improve job satisfaction among employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear overall position: overseas placements can help employees develop skills and can benefit companies through productivity and recruitment. Relevant explanations and examples support these points, including the Indian employee working in Canada and the effect of positive employee feedback on a company’s image. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not equally developed: employee benefits focus mainly on learning culture and communication, while the company benefits are described broadly. Some links, such as how learning new work tactics improves productivity, would be stronger with a more specific explanation or example. To develop the response further, explain more fully how international experience benefits employees personally and how companies can apply the knowledge gained abroad.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for employee and company benefits, and a conclusion that restates the main ideas. The progression from learning in a new environment to possible workplace gains is generally easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition to it” help signal relationships between points. However, some connections are mechanical or imprecise: “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, although the company benefits are complementary, and “and which may help” makes the example’s link to the preceding idea awkward. Use transitions that express the actual relationship and make references such as “that” or “this approach” more explicit where needed. This would make the cohesion more flexible and consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for discussing international work, and the response attempts relevant phrases such as “multinational companies,” “comfort zone,” “dynamic team,” and “job satisfaction.” These choices communicate the main ideas, though some wording is imprecise or repetitive, including repeated uses of “help,” “new things,” and “different country.” There are also spelling errors in “employess” and “emplyees,” and some unnatural collocations, such as “learn their work tactics” and “increase the job satisfaction in workers.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for more specific terms and check spelling and collocation; for example, describe employees as gaining “cross-cultural experience” or learning “effective workplace practices.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses: “When workers spend a period of time in a different work environment they learn new things which they can apply…” This shows an ability to express cause and result, and the overall meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “working and staying in a new country help employees,” the gerund subject takes a singular verb (“helps”); “that automatically help” also needs subject–verb agreement (“helps”). The sentence beginning “For example, satisfied employees give good feedback … and which may help” is not grammatically well connected. Punctuation is also missing after introductory clauses, as in “In other words when…”. Review agreement, clause construction, and comma placement while continuing to use varied sentence patterns.
