Student answer (Band 6.0)

Thesedays, several big international companies give their employees the opportunity to visit a period of time living and working in another nation. This is excellent chance for staff as it offers to explore different world and learn about versatile culture. Not only staff but also companies have many benefits of this development which I will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, spending a few times in foreign country is an excellent opportunity for employees. This is because, people can learn about different cultures, traditions, and languages. It is perfect time to explore the new world for them which is completely different from their home country. From work point of view, they learn about different work strategies which might be beneficial for their professional growth. Moreover, in some countries, such as Canada, USA work life balance is most important so staff will see how to balance work life with personal life.

In addition to that, offering staff to visit new country is positive development for companies. To explain more, employess will learn new apporoaches, effective work strategies, and updated technologies. After coming back they will try develop those things in their company's atmosphere which might be give more benefits. For instance, someone who works as a software development, and he visits Japan to learn advanaced technology. After visiting back he will try to implement those practices in their company which help company to stand on top standard.

In conclusion, visiting another country offer employees to learn new culture and tradition, while companies also get advanatges from different work strategies and technologies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear, relevant position: overseas placements can broaden employees’ cultural and professional experience, while companies can benefit from new approaches and technology. The examples about work–life balance and a software developer learning in Japan help illustrate these points. However, the employee benefits are developed more fully than the company benefits; the claim that returning staff will help a company “stand on top standard” is not clearly explained or supported. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how transferred knowledge improves company performance—for example, through better products, staff training, or access to new markets. The conclusion accurately summarises the main ideas, though it could reflect the company advantages in more detail. The response meets the stated length requirement; nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for employee and company benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from cultural learning to professional development is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the structure clear. This is effective organisation, although some linking is mechanical and a few references are unclear. For example, “After coming back they will try develop those things” leaves “those things” imprecise, while “After visiting back” interrupts the flow of the example. Use more precise references and connect each example directly to the point it supports. Varying transitions and avoiding repeated introductory phrases would make cohesion more flexible and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main ideas, including “professional growth,” “work strategies,” “updated technologies,” and “work life balance.” It also attempts more specific language in the example about software development and Japan. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, as in “employess,” “apporoaches,” “advanaced,” and “advantages from.” Some expressions are also vague or unnatural, such as “explore different world,” “visit a period of time,” and “stand on top standard.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they limit fluency and accuracy. Focus on common collocations and proofread spelling; choose precise phrases such as “spend time working abroad” and “gain a competitive advantage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a relative clause (“which might be beneficial for their professional growth”). The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “This is excellent chance” needs an article, “visiting another country offer employees” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “which might be give more benefits” has an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “For instance, someone who works as a software development, and he visits Japan…” is also awkwardly constructed. Practise accurate clause formation and verb patterns, then check articles and agreement while editing.
