Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern era, a large number of major international companies are offering their employees the chance to spend an amount of time to live and work in a foreign country. This would be a good chance for employees as they will be able to earn more and migrate, while companies would also benefit by having more diversity and expanded work force.
Employees having the opportunity to live and work in a different country would be a chance to have more earnings if the country they move to is wealthier. Multinational companies have many branches worldwide, and those coming from developing countries and switching to a developed one, would gain a jump in salary. Furthermore, if a developed country's branch likes the employee, they might agree to sponsor their residency and allow them to permanently live in the foreign country. This would allow employees to migrate for a longer time or permanently, instead of their original plan to live and work there for only a short period.
On the other hand, companies would also benefit in this situation by having more diversity and additional workers. If a company is using this opportunity to expand to different countries, they could export already trained staff that will be productive with minimal adjustments. For instance, an employee transferring from Philippines to Australia would already be trained and would offer diversity, such as bringing fresh ideas coming from a different culture. The added diversity could mean that transferred employees can contribute new ideas in meetings as they have a different view of the world.
In conclusion, companies transferring employees to another branch would give them added workforce and diversity, which gives fresh ideas. Meanwhile employees who choose to move to a different country to live and work would have the opportunity to earn more and migrate permanently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear focus: employees may gain higher earnings and a route to longer-term migration, while companies gain trained staff and cultural diversity. The Philippines-to-Australia example helps illustrate how an employee can bring a different perspective to meetings. However, the two employee benefits are not equally developed: the discussion of higher pay is conditional on moving to a wealthier country, while the migration point is explained more fully. Company advantages are relevant, but the claim that transfers provide an “additional workforce” could be clarified, since moving existing staff may redistribute rather than increase the total workforce. More explanation of how international experience benefits employees beyond pay and migration, and more precise support for the company benefits, would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for employee and company benefits, and a conclusion that restates the main points. The contrast marker “On the other hand” signals the shift between the two parts of the task, and examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening sentence of the company paragraph says firms benefit from “more diversity and additional workers,” then moves to expansion and trained staff without fully explaining how these points relate. The conclusion also repeats the introduction’s claims rather than drawing them together. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s main idea explicit and using clearer links between the claim, explanation, and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Vocabulary is adequate for discussing international employment, with relevant terms such as “multinational companies,” “developing countries,” “sponsor their residency,” and “diversity.” The writer also attempts more specific expressions, including “fresh ideas” and “minimal adjustments,” and meaning remains clear. Some choices are imprecise or repetitive: “an amount of time” is awkward for a period of work abroad, “a jump in salary” is informal, and “additional workers” does not clearly describe transferring existing employees. “Migrate” is also repeated, and “different country” recurs. Aim for more natural collocations and greater variety, such as “a temporary overseas assignment,” “a salary increase,” and “international experience,” while ensuring that alternatives express the intended meaning accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional clauses (“if the country they move to is wealthier”) and a relative clause (“a developed country's branch likes the employee”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and errors do not generally obstruct understanding. Some grammatical and punctuation issues remain. There is no space after the full stop in “country. This,” and the opening sentence has an awkward infinitive sequence: “the chance to spend an amount of time to live and work.” In “those coming from developing countries and switching to a developed one, would gain,” the comma separates the subject from its verb, and the subject construction is not fully parallel. Review punctuation around clauses and practise making long sentences structurally clear; this would improve accuracy while preserving the range already attempted.
