Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent times multinational companies are providing a chance to their employees to travel to another country and stay and work there for some time in their careers. The benefit of such opportunities is huge for the employee, as he is able to gain experience in different professional settings and also gets to live the life in another country with a different climate, landscapes, traditions and culture. International firms are able to create more cooperation and synchronization among the various teams placed globally in their offices through these programmes.

There are many advantages of working and living in another country specially for the workforce. First of all, due to cultural and societal changes across countries, there is a significant shift in work ethic. Employees can learn and grow from this change in professional culture and adopt some good professional habits. For example, in the new country, punctuality in terms of office arrival time might be very important, and this habit can be adopted in the career. Secondly, the person is able to travel and explore another nation which he might not have been able to do besides his work commitments. So along with the work related responsibilities, employees can experience the culture and nature of another part of the world.

There are many pros involved for the company as well and just not for the employee only. Companies can build much stronger bonds between their different teams by offering individuals to work with their offshore teams in person. This can resolve any conflict or past exclalations that happened among teams as individuals are better able to understand each other face to face. For example, the development and design teams are sitting in different countries, allowing the technical development lead to work with the design team in the same office, removes many of the hiccups and communication gaps as the developers are able to understand the design requirements clearly.

In conclusion, these opportunities benefit both the emplyees and firm at the same time and should be practiced among companies more regularly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear focus on benefits for employees and companies. The employee discussion is supported with relevant examples: adapting to different workplace expectations, such as punctuality, and experiencing another country’s culture. The company section also develops a practical benefit, explaining how in-person collaboration can improve understanding between design and development teams. These examples make the main ideas clear and relevant. Some claims remain broad, however: the opening says the benefits are “huge,” and the conclusion recommends the practice without adding a reason or qualification. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely how employees’ new skills or cultural knowledge benefit their careers, and extend the company benefits beyond team communication.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction, a paragraph on employee benefits, a paragraph on company benefits, and a conclusion. The sequence within each body paragraph is generally logical, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “For example” help readers follow the points. The examples are placed close to the claims they support. Some linking is a little mechanical, particularly the repeated “There are many advantages/pros” openings, and the introduction’s reference to “cooperation and synchronization” is not developed until the company paragraph. The conclusion is also very brief. Use more varied transitions and clearer links between the opening overview and the body points, while keeping the paragraph structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for discussing international work and includes relevant terms such as “professional settings,” “work ethic,” “offshore teams,” and “communication gaps.” This range allows the writer to explain both cultural and workplace benefits. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “offering individuals to work,” “past exclalations,” and “synchronization” in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “emplyees” and “exclalations.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for more idiomatic combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe companies as “assigning” or “giving employees the opportunity to work” with overseas teams.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including cause-and-effect clauses and examples introduced with “as” and “for example.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the longer sentence about the development and design teams shows an attempt to explain a detailed relationship. Some grammatical errors remain. In “allowing the technical development lead to work … removes,” the opening participial phrase does not connect smoothly to the main clause; recast it as “Allowing … to work … can remove.” The phrase “the life in another country” also has an article problem, and “employees can experience” would be clearer than the shift to “the person” in the second paragraph. More consistent sentence construction and careful article use would improve accuracy while preserving the range of structures.
