Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir, I recentaly completed my graduation. I did my graduation in the Chemistry about two years ago. After completing my graduation, I start teaching in middle school. I teach sciences subject to grade 9 to 12 student. I have an experience of about almost 1.5 year in managing classroom and communication. I also have keen interest in this field.

I am very familiar with how to deliver lecture to kids. As I am a teaching to high level students, so I do not know how to handle early class student. I hope you give some useful tips for this purpose. As you have good understanding and work alot in primary school in both private and government schools, you should know more about young learners.

On weekend, I am usually free. I want to arrange meeting with you on Sunday. Time will be deciding by you. After deciding your comfortable period, inform me I will reach on time where you want to meet. Thank you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you outline your chemistry studies and teaching experience, explain that you want advice on teaching younger pupils, and propose meeting on Sunday. The purpose is clear and the details about your mentor’s experience make the request relevant. However, some points are less fully developed than others. Your study and work history is brief, and the help you seek is mainly described as “useful tips” for handling younger students; you could specify particular areas, such as classroom management or adapting lessons. The meeting arrangement is also incomplete because you leave the time and place entirely to your mentor. A more specific proposal, while inviting them to suggest an alternative, would make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: your background comes first, followed by the support you hope to receive and then the meeting proposal. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “After completing my graduation” and “As” show how ideas relate. This clear progression is already effective. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear, particularly “As I am a teaching to high level students, so…” and the final sequence “After deciding your comfortable period, inform me I will reach on time.” The reader can follow your meaning, but the links between clauses need smoother punctuation and phrasing. Use fewer stacked connectors and make each paragraph’s ideas flow in complete, clearly linked sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main information, including relevant terms such as “mentor,” “managing classroom,” “communication,” and “young learners.” The wording also shows an attempt to describe your experience and the support you need. However, several noticeable spelling, word-choice, and collocation problems reduce precision: “recentaly,” “sciences subject,” “high level students,” and “comfortable period” are not natural in this context. Some expressions are also repetitive, especially “graduation” and “I teach.” Choose more precise workplace and education vocabulary, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For example, “completed my degree in chemistry” and “teach science to students in Grades 9 to 12” would express your meaning more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You communicate through a mix of short statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. There are some grammatical errors, however, in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For instance, “After completing my graduation, I start teaching” needs a consistent past-tense form, while “I am a teaching” has an incorrect verb pattern. In “I teach sciences subject to grade 9 to 12 student,” the noun phrase also needs appropriate number and article forms. The final sentence joins instructions and a result without clear punctuation. Practise forming accurate past-tense descriptions and use complete clauses with clear punctuation; this will make your varied sentence structures more controlled.
