Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The candidate has successfully addressed all bullet points of the task prompt. First, you provided a clear outline of your background, mentioning your diploma from St. Clair College, your placement at One Kenton Place, and your subsequent part-time job as a behavioural support worker. Second, you explained the help you hope to receive from your mentor, specifically guidance on developing practical skills and handling difficult situations. Third, you suggested arrangements for a first meeting by proposing a coffee meeting next Wednesday or Friday. The tone is appropriate for a professional introductory letter, and all requirements are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Each paragraph serves a distinct purpose corresponding to the bullet points in the prompt. You made use of paragraphing appropriately, separating the introduction, background, expectations, and meeting proposal. Cohesive devices are generally used effectively, such as 'After completing my studies' and 'It will be pleasure for me'. However, referencing and transitions could be slightly smoother in places, which places this response comfortably at Band 6.5 to 7.0. Overall progression is clear throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You demonstrated an adequate and suitable range of vocabulary for a general workplace context, including terms like 'social service worker', 'placement', 'behavioural support worker', and 'professional and practical skills'. There are some minor lexical and spelling errors, such as 'persued' instead of 'pursued', 'autisim' instead of 'autism', 'thier' instead of 'their', and 'convience' instead of 'convenience'. Despite these occasional slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and appropriately for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The letter includes a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'After completing my studies, I got a part time job as behavioural support worker.' You demonstrate good control over past tense narrative forms and present tense descriptions. However, there are a few grammatical inaccuracies and missing articles, such as 'for full time job' instead of 'for a full-time job' and 'It will be pleasure' instead of 'It will be a pleasure'. Punctuation and sign-off contain a minor error in 'Your sincelery' instead of 'Yours sincerely'. These errors do not impede communication, reflecting Band 6.5 performance.
