Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the task instructions. You introduced yourself, provided a brief outline of your previous studies and work experience by mentioning your Bachelor of Technology degree and your previous role at Sandhu Motors, explained what help you hope your mentor can give you in understanding the new company's rules, and suggested arrangements for a first meeting in a canteen or cafe. However, the tone is slightly informal and direct in places, such as saying 'i want you teach me all', which impacts the appropriateness of the register for a professional workplace context. Overall, the communication of requirements is clear, placing this performance at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement, divided into sensible paragraphs for introduction, background, expectations, and meeting suggestions. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and basic. There is a lack of smooth transitional devices between your sentences, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'company asigned yoiu as a mentor of me'. Paragraphing is used, but the letter struggles with logical flow in places, particularly when jumping abruptly between topics. There is also an issue with basic letter formatting, as 'Dear sir ,' is used instead of a name, and the closing lacks a proper formal sign-off. These factors limit the score to a Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, but contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors that impede natural fluency. Examples include 'asigned', 'yoiu', 'foruntyally' (fortunately), 'intwerview', and 'Bachlor'. You attempt some less common work-related terminology such as 'service advisor', but inaccuracies in spelling and collocation are noticeable throughout the text, for instance saying 'i was cracked the intwerview'. While the reader can understand your intended meaning, the density of lexical inaccuracies prevents the response from achieving a higher band score. Therefore, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as using 'because' and relative clauses, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, including 'i joined company from yesterday', 'i was completed my graduation', and 'Every firm havce different ways'. Article usage is also frequently missing or incorrect, such as 'company asigned' and 'in canteen'. Punctuation is inconsistent, notably with spaces placed before commas and periods throughout the text. These errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar with a Band 5.0 level.
