Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You successfully covered all parts of the prompt. You provided a brief outline of your previous studies and work experience by mentioning your graduation in business management and your experience in marketing and teaching. You also explained what help you hope your mentor can give, specifically regarding understanding the new program launched by the company. Finally, you suggested arrangements for a first meeting by proposing to discuss the program information in person. The tone is generally appropriate for a semi-formal letter to a colleague, although the opening salutation "Dear sir" is slightly too formal and impersonal since you know the mentor's role. All bullet points from the prompt are clearly addressed, demonstrating a satisfactory fulfillment of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure typical of correspondence. You used some cohesive devices and transitional phrases such as "To commence with" and "If you need any futher information". However, paragraphing could be improved; some sentences are broken up awkwardly, such as separating the meeting suggestion into very short, staccato statements. Additionally, referencing is occasionally faulty, such as in the phrase "all the program information ,so we will discuss in our first meeting", where punctuation and linking words disrupt the flow. Progression of ideas is mostly clear, but the mechanical transitions prevent the letter from reaching a higher band score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your background and expectations clearly. You made attempts at less common vocabulary such as "commence", "appreciation", and "analises", but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including "asgined" instead of assigned, "compeleted" instead of completed, "grads" instead of grades, "lunch" instead of launched, and "futher" instead of further. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they demonstrate frequent inaccuracies in spelling and collocations. To improve, you should pay closer attention to basic spelling and choose more natural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the conditional structure "If you need any futher information please let me know." However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include "you are asgined as a new mentor for me" (passive voice and preposition choice), "in the below" (incorrect prepositional phrase), and "I just want that you will analises" (awkward verb complementation). Punctuation errors are also present, particularly with unnecessary spaces before commas. These errors require some effort to decode at times, but communication is still successfully achieved overall.
