Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all the bullet points required by the task. You gave a clear outline of your previous studies and work experience, mentioning your Master's in business administration and your internship. You also explained what help you hope to receive, such as career development and communication skills, and suggested specific arrangements for a first meeting with the date, time, and location. All parts of the prompt are addressed, though the explanation of your background and the help you hope to gain could be slightly more extended to reach the highest standard. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning and maintained throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your letter has a clear, logical organisation and progression throughout. Information is grouped sensibly into paragraphs, starting with an introduction, moving to your background and expectations, and concluding with meeting arrangements and sign-offs. You use basic cohesive devices effectively, such as 'Moreover', 'Since', and 'For our first meeting', which help guide the reader smoothly through your thoughts. To improve further, you could use a wider variety of referencing words and more subtle cohesive links between sentences rather than relying on standard connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and workplace-related terms such as 'mentee', 'chartered accountancy', and 'career development'. However, there are some noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'lot of things' instead of 'a lot of things', 'on the office cafeteria' instead of 'in', and the spelling mistake 'feom' instead of 'from'. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a typical pattern of occasional inaccuracies that prevent the lexical score from being higher.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using structures like relative clauses and subordinate clauses effectively, as seen in 'which was my first job' and 'Since I am new to this industry'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'I am Rasangi Umayangana who joined' (missing articles or phrasing), 'I have lot of things', and punctuation issues like a missing space before the comma in 'cafeteria .It'. However, these grammar and punctuation errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter.
