Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, earning a solid score. You have provided a brief outline of your previous studies and work experience, such as holding a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from Panjab University and having three years of experience as a software engineer. Furthermore, you explained the help you hope to receive regarding managing multiple projects overlapping, and suggested a clear arrangement for a first meeting at the company's ground floor cafe. While all bullet points are covered, some ideas show a slight imbalance in development. For instance, the outline of your background is clear, but the explanation of the support you need could be extended further with specific workplace examples to fully reach a higher standard.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your letter demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose: introduction, background, expectations of the mentor, meeting suggestion, and sign-off. You use appropriate cohesive devices to guide the reader, such as 'To begin with,' and 'I would appreciate if,' ensuring smooth transitions between your ideas. Although referencing and paragraphing are managed sufficiently and appropriately, slightly more varied cohesive structures would help elevate the writing to the highest level.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your message with a fair range of terms related to IT and professional settings, such as 'Bachelor of Engineering,' 'web applications,' and 'cooperative work environment.' However, there are some word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'three-years work experience' instead of 'three years of work experience,' 'comapny's' (spelling slip), and 'take efforts' instead of 'make efforts.' These minor slips reflect an adequate range that attempts less common vocabulary with occasional inaccuracies, which do not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising structures such as conditional and relative clauses like 'I would be grateful if you could support me...' and '...which provided me an intense knowledge.' There are some errors in grammar, such as 'provided me an' instead of 'provided me with an,' 'were developed' instead of 'were to develop' or 'involved developing,' and 'It avoid me' instead of 'It avoids me.' However, these errors in grammar and punctuation are not excessive and rarely impede communication, allowing your message to come across clearly.
