Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a brief outline of your previous studies and work experience, mentioning your bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and your project on an AI robot. You also explained what help you hope your mentor can give, expressing your wish to build a professional bond and reach your career goals. Finally, you suggested arrangements for a first meeting by proposing lunch on a convenient day. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the explanation of the specific help you hope to receive is somewhat brief and generalized. To reach a higher level, you would need to extend and fully develop all your ideas with richer details and clearer justifications throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure that moves from an introduction and background to expectations and a meeting proposal. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate your main points. Cohesive devices are generally present, though some referencing and transitional elements feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition into the second paragraph using 'Firstly'. To achieve the next band, you would need to demonstrate even smoother progression of ideas throughout the text and more flexible, natural use of cohesive devices without any mechanical reliance.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'distinction', 'prototype', and 'contribution'. However, there are some word-choice and spelling errors that show inaccuracy, such as 'bachelore' instead of 'bachelor', 'aquired' instead of 'acquired', 'remarkable profile', and the phrase 'unreachable experience of a decade', which is unnatural in this context. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent you from accessing a higher band. To improve, you should focus on precise word choices, natural collocations, and careful spelling checks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct varied sentences like 'Besides, I have also acquired some certifications which create an remarkable profile.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'details of your's', missing articles ('of IT department', 'in such field'), and awkward phrasing in 'Recently I have got a confirmation email for job'. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication. To move up to the next band, you need to produce a higher frequency of error-free sentences and demonstrate tighter control over prepositions, articles, and possessive structures.
