Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task satisfactorily, fulfilling the basic requirements of a letter to a mentor. You successfully introduced yourself, provided an outline of your academic background and previous work experience, and explained what kind of help you hope to receive, such as guidance on developing professional skills. Furthermore, you suggested arrangements for a first meeting by proposing days next week and a location. However, some parts are more fully developed than others; for instance, the explanation of your previous studies and work experience is somewhat brief and limited in detail, and the meeting arrangements are a bit repetitive and unclear in places. To reach a higher level, all bullet points would need to be more thoroughly extended with fully developed, precise details and clearer planning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure that follows the logical stages of an introductory letter. There is a discernible progression from introducing yourself and your background to discussing your expectations and finally proposing a meeting. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty due to repetitive phrasing, abrupt transitions between sentences, and occasional referencing issues, such as in the final paragraph where the time and location arrangements become slightly tangled. Paragraphing is used to separate ideas, but clearer cohesive devices and smoother logical links between sentences would improve the flow and overall readability of the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and industry-related terms such as 'digital marketing', 'content creation', and 'professional skill'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'my self' instead of 'myself', 'bechelor' for 'bachelor', 'matketing' for 'marketing', 'exited' for 'excited', 'undarstand' for 'understand', 'greatful' for 'grateful', 'feedbak' for 'feedback', 'posiible' for 'possible', 'avilavle' for 'available', and 'avilablity' for 'availability'. These errors in spelling and word form do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because they occur with some frequency and show limited control over less common vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses and compound sentences. However, there are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. These include missing capitalization at the beginning of sentences and for the pronoun 'I', punctuation omissions, incorrect article usage such as 'a new opportunity learn' instead of 'an opportunity to learn', and preposition errors like 'meet in cafeteria in company' instead of 'meet in the company cafeteria'. While these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear, the presence of these recurring grammatical slips and punctuation lapses keeps the grammar score at this level.
