Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sai,
In the past organisation, I used to have plenty of work experience related to excel sheets, typing speed, I also studied many documents of company's sucess and was very overwhelmed by the employee's performance.
In my new company I'm expecting the crucial help from one of well experience employee as my mentor to teach the each task which is essential to gain the experience, should guide complaince policies, secutiy incidents, risk management and other related to project work flow, policies. Leadership qualities should added as the ability in the absence of the Team Manager. Apart from this, I'm expecting my mentor should be a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
I'm looking forward to interact my new mentor at the office and should be a organized by a schedule meeting booked in the conference room for atleast one hour discussing my past experience and sharing inputs of the necessary tasks to begin with.
Thanking you,
Best Regards,
Shiva.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you mention previous work with spreadsheets and documents, describe support you want with tasks and workplace policies, and propose meeting at the office in a conference room. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the requests are relevant. However, the outline of your studies and work experience is not fully clear: “I also studied many documents” describes reading company material rather than your educational background, and you give little detail about your previous role. Your expectations of the mentor are more specific, but the list of desired support and leadership skills is not fully explained. Add a concise account of what you studied and your responsibilities, then clarify your main priorities for the mentor.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: background, expectations, and a proposed meeting each appear in a separate paragraph. This makes the main stages easy to identify, and phrases such as “Apart from this” and “I'm looking forward” help connect ideas. The progression within paragraphs is less controlled, however. The second paragraph moves quickly from task training to compliance, security, risk management, leadership, and subject expertise, so the relationship between these requests is not always clear. The meeting proposal also combines several actions in one sentence. Group related support needs and use shorter sentences to show which points are priorities; this would make the organisation more consistently smooth.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of workplace vocabulary, including “risk management,” “Team Manager,” “conference room,” and “Subject Matter Expert,” which helps communicate the professional context. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, but several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “plenty of work experience related to excel sheets” is awkward, while “well experience employee” and “teach the each task” are not natural forms. “Sucess,” “compliance,” and “security” are also misspelled in the response. Choose standard workplace collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe “experience using spreadsheets” and ask for “guidance on company policies and project workflows.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally understand your main requests. However, control is uneven, particularly in the longer sentences. In “I'm expecting my mentor should be a Subject Matter Expert,” the verb pattern is faulty; use “I hope my mentor will be a subject matter expert.” The meeting sentence, “I'm looking forward to interact … and should be a organized,” also has problems with the verb form, sentence construction, and article use. There are further issues with articles and agreement in “teach the each task” and “Leadership qualities should added.” Practise building complete sentences around one main idea, and check verb patterns, articles, and agreement before submitting.
