Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5

You make a relevant start by introducing yourself and mentioning your studies and previous work: “I was study in social science” and “I was working a small company.” However, the letter does not address two important parts of the task: what support you want from your mentor and how or when you could meet. Your background is also only briefly outlined, so the reader learns little about your role or experience. The response is far below the required 150 words, which leaves the task substantially incomplete. To improve, develop each bullet point with specific details, such as the skills you hope to build and a suggested day, time, and place for a first meeting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The information follows a basic, understandable order: you identify yourself, mention when you joined, and then describe your education and work experience. This gives the short response some overall progression. However, the ideas are presented as a single block, with no clear paragraphing or transitions to guide the reader through the letter. The abrupt ending also leaves the communication unfinished, and there are no linking expressions to connect your background to your hopes for mentoring or a meeting. Organise the letter into short paragraphs—introduction, background, and requests—and use simple links such as “Before joining,” “I would particularly appreciate,” and “Could we meet” to make the progression clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant words to communicate the main facts, including “new employee,” “company,” “social science,” and “university.” These choices make the general topic recognisable. However, the vocabulary range is narrow, and several spelling or word-form errors make parts of the message less clear, such as “socil,” “univarsity,” and “resuit.” The phrase “a small company” gives little information about your previous role or responsibilities. Use accurate, task-specific expressions to describe your education and experience, and add vocabulary for the support you seek, such as career guidance, workplace procedures, or developing professional skills. Proofreading names of qualifications and institutions would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies almost entirely on short, simple statements, so it shows little variety in sentence structure. Several grammatical errors affect clarity: “I am a new employees” has incorrect agreement, “Last week i join” uses an incorrect verb form, and “I was study” does not form a correct past-tense construction. The sentence about working while studying also needs a clearer grammatical pattern, for example, “I worked for a small company while I was studying.” Capitalisation and sentence punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “i” and the missing space after “company.” Practise accurate past-tense forms and combine related information using simple subordinate clauses before attempting more complex structures.
