Dear....... ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr. Sam,
I am writing to introduce myself as a new employee in your organization. I recently join this company, and I am happy that my manager appointed you as my mentor.
I completed my studies in business administration in September 2024, and after that, I worked as an assistant for approximately two years. Moreover, in our organization I joined as a senior assistant. Although I have prior experience in this field, I believe that you will support me initially to understand the working style of this company. I will also appreciate it if you give an advice regading my work. I am delightful for having an experienced mentor like you.
I planned our first on coming Monday, in the meeting hall at 1:00 pm. If you have busy schedule, I am open to arrange meeting according to your schedule. Please let me know regarding your availability.
I look further to hearing from you. Thank you in advance.
Your faithfully,
Manish Thakur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points and establish a suitable, polite purpose for writing. Your studies and work history are outlined, and you explain that you would value support in understanding the company’s working style and advice about your work. The meeting proposal is also specific, with a day, place and time, plus flexibility if your mentor is unavailable. This covers the task well, and the clear details show some of the development expected at a stronger level. However, the work history is slightly unclear: “after that, I worked as an assistant for approximately two years” is followed by “I joined as a senior assistant,” without explaining whether this is your current role or a promotion. Clarifying this and specifying the kind of career guidance you seek would develop the ideas more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce yourself, describe your background and expectations, propose a meeting, and close politely. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking expressions such as “after that,” “Moreover,” and “Although” help connect information. The meeting paragraph is especially easy to follow because it gives a proposed time and then offers an alternative. Some connections are less smooth: “Moreover, in our organization I joined as a senior assistant” does not clearly show how this role relates to the previous job, while “Although I have prior experience” introduces a contrast that is not fully explained. A clearer transition between your past experience and current position, and more direct links between ideas, would make the progression more consistently natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a professional introduction, including “appointed,” “prior experience,” “working style,” and “availability.” These choices communicate the main points, and the tone is generally appropriate. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural word choices and collocations. “I am delightful for having” uses the wrong form and does not sound natural; “I would be delighted to have” is more suitable. “Give an advice” is also incorrect because “advice” is uncountable, and “on coming Monday” is an awkward expression. The spelling error “regading” and the closing “Your faithfully” also affect accuracy and polish. Aim for natural workplace phrases and check spelling and fixed expressions before sending the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast clause “Although I have prior experience in this field” and the conditional “If you have busy schedule.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “I recently join” needs a past-tense verb (“joined”), and “I planned our first” would be more appropriately expressed as “I would like to arrange our first meeting.” Articles are missing in “a busy schedule” and “give an advice” (though “advice” also requires a different construction). The closing phrase “I look further to hearing” also needs a grammatical expression such as “I look forward to hearing.” Review verb forms, articles and standard sentence patterns to improve accuracy while retaining your varied structures.
