Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the purpose of introducing yourself and include relevant points about the support you want and a possible first meeting. However, the task is only partly fulfilled because your studies and work experience are not outlined: “I had completed my graduation recently” gives one brief study detail, but you say nothing about previous employment or what you studied. The help you request is relevant, such as improving communication and setting career goals, but the final point, “Your advice on progressing in my work and getting promotions,” is left as a fragment and is not developed. Add a concise account of your education and any work experience, and explain more specifically what guidance would be useful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce yourself, describe the support you hope to receive, suggest a meeting, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Regarding our first meeting” make the transition easy to follow. This coherent arrangement is a strength. Some links between ideas could be smoother, however: the sentence “Your advice on progressing in my work and getting promotions” is disconnected from the preceding sentence and interrupts the flow. Connect it to the request before it, or make it a complete sentence. The progression is clear, but more consistent linking and complete development of each paragraph would make the cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a professional introductory letter, including “mentee,” “professional skills,” “career goals,” and “guidance.” These choices communicate your intentions clearly, and the tone is generally appropriate. There are some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, such as “intrested” and “prefered,” and “getting promotions” sounds less natural in this context than a phrase such as “advancing in my career.” “Challenges of professional world” is also not idiomatic; “challenges of the professional world” would be more natural. These issues do not prevent understanding, but careful proofreading and more precise collocations would improve the accuracy and flexibility of your vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “I would be happy to meet you next week at any time suitable for you” and the conditional “if that is more suitable for you.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. For example, “I had completed my graduation recently” uses an unsuitable past perfect form; “I recently graduated” is more appropriate. “I hope you can help in improving” would be more naturally structured as “help me improve,” and “Your advice on progressing…” is a sentence fragment. There is also a missing article in “challenges of professional world.” Check verb forms, sentence completeness, and articles when editing.
